I think they are referencing their GPA, in terms of their science prerequisites. Your grades in other classes have no bearing on admission. So, your micro grade itself is not factored into your application, they only account for it being completed. You gain 1 total point for having completed all three prerequisites. However, last application cycle, they actually scored it a little differently, last term, you’d get one point PER prerequisite completed. So, I don’t know how they factor in points now for those who still have micro in progress!

If you didn’t make it in, they will send you a rejection email, but it may come after a few days. I’m not sure if acceptance emails are still being sent out or not, but I’d call them and ask!

Is the point system for LVN different? I know at Collin, the max points you can make is 22 for the traditional RN program. I am applying with 20.2 points.

Oh yes, private universities are notoriously expensive, that’s why I stayed away from them! It seems like a huge sham. It was a smart move for you to withdraw! There are far better and cheaper options, such as Collin!

Hi! Yes, so they don’t actually start reviewing applicants until after the deadline date, which is today. Basing it off of the last term, the application deadline was June 5th, and people who made it in received their acceptance emails on June 30th. But, rejection emails were sent out later, I received mine on July 2nd. So, you should expect to her back from them within 3-4 weeks, in this case by the end of September! Best of luck to you.

Hi! It’s tough to answer, just because every application cycle varies! But, Collin is very competitive, so personally, I would retake the class. One point may seem trivial, but when it comes to a points based admission, it can make or break you being accepted over another candidate. For example, someone could have scored as low as a 74 on the TEAS, but if they have A’s in both of their A&Ps...they would end up with 18.4 points. You did very well on your TEAS, and if you secure an A in A&P 1 (which I’m sure you easily can), you’re guaranteed a spot. When did you take your TEAS, btw? Just wanted to mention that the TEAS scores are only valid for a year from the date taken; just something to keep in mind if you’re applying for Spring 2022!

Hi! I retook my TEAS today and scored a 92. The tiebreakers are super important! Last term, 60 people were accepted and 545 applied. Collin is super competitive, to say the least. It’s definitely daunting starting with a crisis going on, but, anyone working in the health care capacity will always be more susceptible to infectious diseases, just by the nature of the job! I don’t think it will be until Fall 2021 that off-site clinicals actually begin though; since we do not have Summer classes at Collin anymore. If I’m remembering correctly, they do not start until the second semester.

Hi! Unfortunately, I do not have Chemistry complete so I can’t apply to TWU for the upcoming term. I was going to apply to Grayson for Spring 2021, but the deadline has already passed. My dream school is Collin, it’s a highly accredited program & I live literally 5 minutes away, I could walk there ? I know, it’s really risky only applying to one program, but I can’t apply to any BSN program as of now since I don’t have chem complete yet. What other programs have you applied to? Also, they did reduce the applicants accepted during the fall term due to Covid, I was told at the zoom info session! They also said this is the most amount of applicants they’ve ever received in a cycle, so it was very competitive last term.

What was your score breakdown? The English portion killed me LOL and brought my overall score down

Hey girl! That’s honestly a great score, great job! I’m aiming for at least an 85 or above, since the average TEAS score last cycle was an 87 ? the competition is high. There are still test slots open, so if you feel like you could improve your score, it wouldn’t hurt to retest. But, I think you have a solid score. This is the file that displays how the points are calculated : https://www.collin.edu/nursing/associatedegreenursing/Spring 2021 Admission Criteria Form.docx So, in your case, you’d be applying with 18.57 points - you get one 1 point for completion of all prerequisites (A&P 1 &2, and micro) then 10 points for having an A in both A&P 1 & 2. Then 8.57 points for your TEAS score, and minus 1 point for retaking A&P. And if you served in the military, you’d get one point extra. The tiebreakers could make and break whether you get in or not, so if you did really well in science & reading, you’d picked over someone else.

Hi guys! I thought I’d make a new forum for those applying to the Spring program at Collin College. I applied for the fall semester, but I was not accepted, the fall term was extremely competitive. I was told that they had an unprecedented amount of applicants last cycle, there were over 400 applicants. Also, the average TEAS score of the applicants was 87.5. I retook my TEAS last week and made a 92!
