  1. I got accepted into North Harris as well! I’m kinda dizzy from all that has to be done, but I’m grateful/thankful to have been offered a seat into the program. Let the chaos begin!! ?
  2. I feel the same way. I don’t have much of choice, so I guess this period of time is teaching us a certain level of patience LOL. My work schedule is fairly stable and my supervisor is willing to work around my school schedule. I work twelve hour shifts 3 days/week, so I’ll be staying full-time for the duration of school (if I get accepted). I’m sure you’ll be able - if you wanted to - to still work that same type of schedule OMG the program started.
  3. Two weeks? WOW!. This process is about to be sooooooo fast-paced for whoever gets accepted.
  4. My goodness!! That is A LOT to have to deal with. And, no, it does not seem trivial at all. I completely understand where you are coming from. I’m sure every Transition student in your class is working either part or full-time and any extra unnecessary stress is a lot to manage. Like just tell us what we need to do and give it to us RIGHT LOL. Conflicting or misconstruing information is something we shouldn’t have to bargain with, especially considering the fact that we’re trying to learn all we need to in 3 semesters. And please let me apologize, because I meant no disrespect from my post. I just wanted to elaborate on how many people have said their experience with Lone Star in comparison to other programs and what they’ve heard about them. I definitely agree that the program has its Cons and it could be better in some areas. I hear often how NH has a tendency to “weed out” a lot of their students. I hope with some time they’ll get it together LOL. Its no rush I’m the booklist at all. I’m always so surprised at how infrequently we use some of the textbooks they say are required LOL. Thank you for the heads up on that. I want to hold on to every single cent that I can LOL. In regard to the scrubs, I know clinical is a requirement for each semester, but I thought with COVID that we would probably not be in clinical right away and may end up doing virtual sims until the programs have been given the clear to resume clinical rotations. Hopefully by that time, we’ll be able to do so. And thank you so much for taking the time out to respond to all of us. I’m sure your schedule is crazy right now with work and school.
  5. WOW! I can’t really say I’m surprised, but I guess that’s the price we all must pay. And I agree with you about going to any other program. I have close friends that completed the Transition program - they graduated in the 2019 cohort - with NH and they raved about it. I completed my VN with the Kingwood campus and it prepared me far more than some of my associates were, that attended other programs outside of Lone Star. It was a rigorous program, but I would not have traded it for any other at all. I do have another question for you, if you don’t mind. If you have a moment, would you mind sending the required book list they gave y’all for the program and what color uniform are required for clinical? I don't expect us to be in a clinical setting during the first semester, but just in case we do I just wanted to try and prepare myself for it. I know I may be jumping the gun on this being that they haven’t even sent out notification letters, but if I do get in I would just like to be prepared for some of it.
  6. This is going to be an extremely expedient process in regard to the timeline. I have everything done for the most part in terms of vaccinations/titers, but the amount of time to have everything else paid for/purchased is very tight. I’m just praying they make some modifications to ease us through the beginning.
  7. Now if the timeline is not pushed back in regards to when the program starts and it takes them three weeks to send out acceptance letters, how are we to prepare for the program? That would leave us little to no room for preparation.
  8. So, I have to retract the first statement I made. Apparently I misunderstood what my co-worker said. She said that she was speaking in reference to the application period closing, not when they were sending out notification letters.
  9. I was informed by a co-worker of mine - who also applied - that they plan to send out notification letters starting April 22nd. She stated that this was told to her by the North Harris Advisor, Juanita Garcia. I also emailed Ms. Juanita to inquire about the start date of the program and she stated that it is still to start in June as planned; that was on April 6th that I emailed her.
  10. Yeah, Hurst is a great review; my classmates and I used it as well. I still look at the review book from time to time. I’m sure you’ll do well because of it. I was very nervous about the HESI too. It was nerve racking LOL. Do you know what your overall score is yet for the application?
  11. Hey everybody! Allywat: many prayers and the best of luck to you on NCLEX! Have you completed any reviews to prepare for it? Also, I think North Harris takes between 40 and 50 Transition students, but I could most definitely be wrong. I know I saw someone post about the number of students from the previous application periods, but I can’t quite remember the number they posted. Jazzmyn: I know the email I received when I submitted my application said to periodically check your student email for any updates they may send out. I think we should be fine though. Let’s just pray there’s no holdup with them processing our applications, cause we need to know if we got accepted ASAP. LOL.
  12. Hi Lovetosmile! That is an awesome score. You should for sure make it in without a shadow of a doubt. I have to retake Medical Microbiology, but I probably won’t do that until the first semester of the program (if I make it in LOL). It seems like April is so far away, but it’s really just around the corner. Can’t wait to see if we all get accepted. ?
  13. Hello! My name is Jocelyn and I’ve been an LVN for almost three years. I just applied for the Transition program today, with the hopes of being accepted into North Harris. My choices in order are: North Harris, Tomball, and Montgomery. My score is low (7.032) because I made a C in English and I just don’t want to retake it LOL. I just pray that it’ll be enough. Good luck to everyone!
