It's possible that they are moving forward with you. When I was offered the job verbally by the hiring nurse manager after my interview, she told me that I had to specifically apply under a certain job number so that they could give me an official offer. So it may be that they pushed your application to another job number so that they can make you an offer. Fingers crossed for you!

After reading both descriptions, I would personally go with the second job offer in Med/Surg. Although you are familiar with the smaller hospital and are friendly with some staff there, I see more pros with job #2. Especially consider the fact that you would START at a higher pay rate instead of having to work your way up to that same rate at the other location. Meaning you would never have to accept a rate lower than that if you ever change hospitals. Also, having the 1 year of med/surg experience will never be a bad thing, especially at a bigger, more well known hospital. Lastly, after that first year, you can transfer into ICU or L&D at that same hospital. What if you end up deciding that L&D is for you and you are working at the smaller hospital? You would have to apply and make the transition to another hospital regardless!

I interviewed two weeks ago and was offered one of the new grad L&D positions. Some interview tips: Go in there confident! It helps you seem poised and professional. They asked questions such as: “Name a recent difficult situation you had had and how you handled it.” “How do you feel about change?” “What do you look for in a leader?” “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” “Have you participated in any committees or taken on any leadership positions?” Even if the answer is no, try to spin it to your advantage. Something along the lines of “Unfortunately I haven’t been afforded the opportunity to join any committees in my career just yet. However, I have always wanted to be a part of one and am constantly looking for a chance to demonstrate my leadership skills in spearheading changes and helping others acclimate to new changes as well.”

We’ve been fully online since we started aside from skills lab and clinicals! It’s not a regular occurrence so there’s been maybe 2/3 times we’ve seen other cohorts in passing during skills lab and currently we’re in a class with another cohort.

You don’t have to wait! I just mentioned it’d be better since I didn’t have the updated course schedule but if you have it on hand, go for it! The only thing is that most of the courses don’t release the course dates and times until a few weeks/days before the class starts which makes it hard to work around but that’s why I mentioned it’s important to have a flexible work schedule?

They will send out emails with all of the specific documentation needed as well as go over it during orientation. Correct BLS; just make sure it's the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider course.

You guys can wait until orientation! Especially since I know they've made changes to the progression schedule since my cohort started last year. There's no rush to register since the last day to register is May 17th, a week after the semester begins. I don't mean to worry you but as far as I know, the acceptance fee is only for freshman undergraduate students! Although I know they're always changing things. But if you got direct instructions from the nursing program to pay it then just disregard what I mentioned! There really isn't anything else to do other than wait and celebrate your acceptance! Some advice I can give to newly accepted students would be: Make sure your FAFSA is filled out for the 2021-2022 school year Invest in a good laptop and printer Gather all of your required documentation or get it done so that you're not rushing at the last minute; by documentation I mean things like titers, 2 step TB test, flu and COVID vaccine, CPR certification, etc. Get a head start on necessary supplies like a decent stethoscope (doesn't have to be expensive!), penlight, medical scissors, multi-colored pen, simple calculator, a waterproof watch with a second hand, a headband/scrub cap with buttons to hold your mask up, a good badge reel, etc. Once you meet everyone in your cohort, start a GroupMe chat so that everyone can contact each other with questions.

I do! Most of the students in my cohort are "older." I am the youngest at 27 and even still that's old haha. Anyway, It is definitely possible to work while in school. In fact less than 5 students in my cohort are strictly students. APU recommends no more than 20 hours per week but some people in our cohort still work full time which I wouldn't recommend either but you gotta do what you gotta do! I would just recommend working somewhere with a really flexible schedule because our schedule changes SO frequently so a flexible employer is important. Congratulations on your acceptance!

The director who oversees notifying applicants about acceptance is going to be out of the office from 3/22-3/29. So more than likely acceptances will start going out the week of the 29th when they are back. Fingers crossed for everyone! Good luck guys!!

Summer semester starts May 10th.

APU is having Spring break this coming week so I doubt you guys will be hearing back ?More than likely it will be the last week of March/first week of April.

There will be a new section that looks like this once they’ve reached a decision on your application.

So my situation is kind of unique since I mentioned the LVN-BSN program used to have a competency test before official acceptance was offered. The first contact I received from APU was an email that invited us to take the competency exam. Then a phone call saying the same thing; that was on February 25th. Once COVID cancelled everything in regards to the competency exam, we finally were offered official acceptance on April 1st through email and a phone call.

Hopefully I can answer your question since I’m not 100% sure on what you’re asking. If you go by total acceptances per semester then yes, they admit 80 students throughout all 3 campuses. However, once you have selected a campus, it is rare to receive an offer to attend a different one unless your application really stood out and that was the only option left or some other outstanding reason along those lines. Also, you wouldn’t be offered a spot to attend the LVN-BSN program if you applied for the 2+2 program. So cohorts are made up of 20-30 students depending on the program and the entire class size accepted for Summer 2021 would be 80.

You’re right I misspoke! Thanks for clarifying! I asked my classmates and we were all under the impression it was 20. I just checked the 2+2 class size on the class search page we use for enrollment and it’s 30. ?

I’m honestly not sure since I’ve heard so many different things about what they consider while reviewing applications; but what I can say is that I’m sure it doesn’t hurt!

It’s just official notice that your application was accepted and will be considered for review. They send it out to all applicants who completed the application before the deadline. I received the email after applying both times and it had no impact since I was denied the first time and then accepted the second time. Fingers crossed for both of you!

All of the professional undergraduate cohorts are made up of 20 students. From what I remember when I asked before applying, they have a few hundred applicants every semester.

When you first filled out the application, there is a section for recommendations where you write in the emails of the two people who you would like to complete the recommendation forms. They are then emailed the link to complete the online recommendation right away. I know for a fact they look at recommendations HEAVILY from every application they receive. I would double check and ask your references to maybe look in their spam folders and see if the email might have been accidentally overlooked.

They’re taking it semester by semester since things are always changing. They’ve decided all of Spring semester will be online but haven’t mentioned any changes for Summer or Fall semester.
