We once had a patient on our unit who ended up passing away. A few hours later, we got a call for a baby being born who was prenatally diagnosed with a cardiac defect. His last name was the same as the baby who died's middle name. When we admitted him, we asked the father what his first name was, and it turned out that he also had the same first name as the other baby who had passed. When the doctors performed his echo, they found a completely different defect than he was prenatally diagnosed with, the same diagnosis as the other baby. After this, we moved him to another room because we were all so freaked out about it.

Me and a friend have been planning on travelling in CA beginning in February. I am looking for a PICU position and she is looking for an oncology position. We have been told the whole time that there would no problem finding us positions together. Now that it is time for us to get going, there's problem after problem finding us positions together. This is our first travel assignment, and every time we get ourselves excited for a position or an area, we are let down for some reason or another. We have been pretty flexible on the location in CA, except for that we didn't want to go North. Now, it looks like we may have to settle for Northern CA in order to get positions in the same area, and it is very frustrating. Anyone have any suggestions for us????

Novapro is one of the companies I am thinking about using. I have heard mixed things from people on cross country. Have you had any problems? I've also heard that with Novapro, certain costs are deducted from your hourly pay, such as housing amenities and licensure reimbursement? Have you had problems with any of this? You can PM me.
