  1. It’s regionally accredited, which is the better than nationally accredited. GCU is a reputable school and has one of the best nursing programs in AZ. This ABSN program is new, but their regular BSN is great.
  2. Is the ASN a hybrid program (all online minus lab/clinics) or a traditional program(actually getting lectures)?
  3. Hey guys! What cohort are you guys in? BOS A or BOS B?
  4. Hi everyone! So I know HLC ACNE and CCNE accreditation is best, but what about ABHES and CCNE accreditation together? I’m looking into transferring nursing schools, but I’d be going from HLC/CCNE to ABHES/CCNE. I can still take the NCLEX, but what is the main difference between HLC and ABHES? Will that cause any other issues down the line besides not being able to attend a masters program of my choice? Does it just come down to what my long-term, future goals are? Thank you!
  5. hi! how did your ABSN program go? I start this January, so I wanted to know how your personal experience went!!
  6. Hi! It does not matter what school you get your BSN in. NCLEX is a license, and can be taken anywhere, as long as you choose where you want your license to be in. You can also get it transferred later down the line for a fee. There are many other accelerated BSN programs. If you don't want to travel as far, I am currently in the ABSN program at Grand Canyon University. I am considering getting my license in California, but I know of many people that have attended GCU who got their license in California, Hawaii, and many other non-compact states.
  7. Is it really still bad? I heard things were doing a lot better. Are you switching to Tucson?
  8. I found it! Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/216431713200882/?ref=share
  9. No I’m not looking for roommates. We can create our own facebook group and let others join if you want!
  10. It’s different from the Phoenix location and Tucson location. The Tucson location requires 60 credits but the Phoenix location requires a non-nursing bachelors degree.
  11. The traditional nursing program is very competitive! But the post-bachelors is different because as long as you meet the requirements & checklist, you can be conditionally accepted. 3.0 overall GPA 3.25 prereq GPA HESI: 70 or 80 A & P, with 80 for math, reading, grammar, etc. So as long as your average is over 85, you’re good! In the traditional nursing program, you would need a 90+ average HESI, and a 3.76+ prereq GPA to be considered “competitive”; however, the post bachelors program is different because it’s “self-directed”, which means the curriculum/foundation of nursing is self-taught, & the clinicals, lab, simulations are on the campus. It depends on what you’re wanting in a nursing program! I am choosing GCU because I am graduating with my first degree from them. I wanted to stick with GCU due to being regionally accredited, somewhat affordable in comparison to others, & non-profit.
  12. Yes, patho is required for a pre req! And no letters of recommendation.
  13. The prerequisites need to be a 3.25, but your overall GPA needs to be 3.0! I start this January 2021 at the Phoenix location. I have been fully accepted. Are you also planning on attending the Phoenix location?
  14. Is there anyone starting Spring 2021 at the Phoenix location? Maybe we can all join a groupchat!
  15. You learn the foundation of nursing by yourself. It’s all online with the exception of in-person lab, simulations, & clinicals. It’s a self-directed program. I would prefer not to have a nursing program like this, but GCU is non-profit, has a good reputation compared to other nursing schools, & is regionally accredited (which is important depending on your future goals).
  16. Hi everyone! Just curious, how much is the total cost of this program? I am looking into other ABSN programs!
  17. I’m actually starting the Phoenix ABSN in January. I’m hearing some iffy reviews from some students who started the program this fall. I guess it’s literally 90% online and not 50/50 like the way it has been advertised and been said. There also wasn’t any powerpoints or any other guidance but many complained, so they are starting to give out powerpoints (not as helpful). And the Phoenix location isn’t allowing any in-person clinicals yet, but almost every other nursing program in Arizona has In-person clinicals. I’m kind of conflicted, but I’m hoping the program changes and gets better in January.

  19. Yes, I have already gotten accepted! ?
  20. Yes, it was my first time applying! But I decided to change my major because my scores would not be as competitive to apply for the fall, and I’d rather get my degree already and pursue GCU’s nursing program afterwards. Only thing that sucks is the price, but it’ll be worth it in the end! It would be two separate degrees from the same school, which looks great also. But yes, I know of many people who had worse GPAs and got accepted and vise versa. There is not a legitimate rule in my opinion. The cool part about the ABSN program is that there would be no waitlist and you get accepted, as long as you meet all of the requirements (which is the same requirements for the traditional program)! Many other Universities, like NAU, has this same exact program. It’s become a common thing in colleges nationwide.
  21. I did not get accepted, but my scores were about the same as yours. GCU has a new ABSN program, so I am changing my major because I am able to graduate next spring. With my Bachelor's, I can apply to their ABSN (need a non-nursing degree). If you guys need a back-up plan, this is ideal if you want to get your BSN from GCU in the end. It is just very, very expensive.
  22. Hello everyone. Grand Canyon University is starting an ABSN program. Has anyone heard much about it or if anyone is applying to the summer semester? There is a Phoenix (Sun City) and Tuscon location. The requirements are the same as the pre-licensure, but this program is for individuals who already have a Bachelor's in a non-nursing degree.
  23. Hey everyone! Has anyone heard of Grand Canyon University's accelerated BSN program? It just launched this year, and was wondering if anyone is applying to it? ABSN - two locations: Sun City and Tuscon.
  24. Hey everyone! Did anyone else apply to Grand Canyon University’s nursing program for the summer 2020 term? What are your guys nursing GPA and HESI score? I am so nervous, I don’t know what to expect since they are cutting the Banner Boswell location!
