A few colleagues from a lab I used to work at lived near Barton Street, and described it as a little "sketchy." I can't speak much about what it's like to live there, but I did volunteer near that area and never felt unsafe (granted, I always had people with me). It does have a bit of a reputation, although some alumni I've talked to said it's gotten a lot better. There are nicer apartments near the Go Station downtown (Queen & Bold, Queen & Jackson), but since they're close to hospitals/labs, popular bars, and restaurants, they might be a bit pricier.

@worriedsick Congratulations to both of you! This is so exciting. Hamilton is not perfect, but it's charming in many ways, and I hope you'll have many great memories! I graduated from McMaster last year. Lived in two houses close to the campus. We had to move from our first house because our landlord & his contractor were very unresponsive, so we had a lot of issues (some very bad). So, in general, if you can, speak to previous tenants and ask them how responsive the landlords/property managers are, especially if you're thinking of living close to campus. We had a much better experience with our second house. Whenever we had an issue, it was solved quickly. Neighbourhoods close to campus are relatively the same in terms of safety, costs, and sizes. Most of these house undergrads (usually 5+ people/home) but these may be cheaper than houses with grads or mature students. If you're thinking of living a little bit further away from campus (and do not have a car), it's usually not an issue of they are close to streets that the 51, 5, and 1 busses run through. You'd probably find cheaper and nicer homes with less housemates. And you'd be more compelled to go out and explore (once it's safe, you know, because of the pandemic)! Hey there! Yay, CONGRATS, mine just changed to conditional too! ? I did my undergrad at Mac but I'll be accepting UofT this year. I knew a few nursing friends, talked to some Mac PAs, and my SO is in a PBL-heavy program. From what I heard about PBL, it's very dependent on the effort that you and your group mates put into each case and how different your learning style is. You'll get mixed reviews; some hate it, some think it's very useful. My SO makes fun of it sometimes but I think they like it and finds it very valuable. You'll have a tutor with you during tutorials to steer you in the right direction and fill in any info that you're missing. It will take a while to get used to it and you'll worry if you're learning enough information (you will!). You and your group will be coming up with your own objectives for each tutorial/case. I'm not entirely sure how accelerated nursing PBL is different from PA/Med PBL, but the objective is not just on learning all the info you need (which is important), but focusing on acquiring/developing soft skills like self-directed learning, critical thinking, collaboration, etc--Mac's very fond of this. I used to study better individually but now love studying in groups. Again, CONGRATS! I'm sure you'll find plenty of info on PBL online and from other students as well.

Hey there! Under OUAC 105 - Responding to an Offer of Admission, there is a section that says "You must first cancel the previously accepted offer before you can accept another offer." So yes, I think you do need to cancel that offer before accepting UofT through OUAC. As to how internal applicants are to accept through Join, I'm not sure as I'm an external applicant, although I don't recall accepting anything through that site. I just dowloaded the offer from there. I was able to log into and pay the deposit on Acorn. ?

Hello! I *think* McMaster has yet to send out offers and Western might send out more (the first few round of offers are expiring this May). Waiting is definitely tough, but hang in there! And if it doesn't happen this year, keep on keeping if nursing really is what you want. ? Good luck, I hope you hear back soon!

I paid online a couple days ago, and under "finances," it says that I made deposit payments "that have not yet been applied to fees." Will I have to apply it manually by myself? Or would it automatically do so after a while?

Hi! When I emailed Mac last week, I was told they will be sending offers in the beginning of May (I asked when they’ll be needing final transcripts, which they’ll want only if one receives an offer then). I know some offers expire on OUAC on May 1st, which might make waiting/deciding a bit more difficult. Who knows, they might start sending them a week earlier! Good luck! ?

Hey! I saw a faculty self-study from 2017 somewhere online at the beginning of the year, and from what I remember, around 170 students register from ~750 applicants, so that's about a 22-23% acceptance rate for UofT. Best of luck, I hope you hear some good news soon!

Awesome! I miss Mac but I'd love to meet you at UofT this year! There's still plenty of time for UofT to send out more acceptances, although I think we can all relate how frustrating the waiting period is. Keep us updated!! And I hope you'll be able to rely on friends, family, and hobbies to keep you distracted and hopeful as you wait. Do you still have exams?

Hey there! I emailed Mac's admissions last week because I had the same question. I was told they won't require your final transcript unless you receive an offer. I'm not sure about other universities; I'd follow up with them via email or look at their COVID-19 policies regarding admissions. Best of luck to you during this waiting period! ?

Anyone else received an email from Western saying they extended their deadline to accept their CTF offer? I know we can always accept now and cancel later through OUAC, but I think it was very considerate of them. It puts me a little at ease while I wait for other schools to respond. Not sure how it’s going to affect when they’ll send out the next round of offers.

I sent an email to ask a question about pre-requisites/final grades, and received an automated email that included this info: "Admissions Information Unfortunately, we must temporarily pause the processing of your application for admission until April 5, 2020. This decision will be re-evaluated after April 6 with any updates being posted on our website. Please do not send any documentation to [email protected] until we return to normal operations. Information regarding transferring from another university or college is available on our University and College Transfer page." I'm assuming we won't be hearing from McMaster for a while?

Hey! I received an email on the 13th (14th?) of March and was given until the 17th of April to accept, so I suppose they’ll reach out to more people around that time? I’m still waiting to hear back from other schools so I haven’t made a decision yet. This waiting period is making me a little anxious, but hopefully we’ll all get some good news soon! Me too! I didn’t think I did well on CASPer at all and was quite bummed about it for a while. I hope this means our scores are fine? Other schools I’m waiting to hear back need it too. I hope it’s OK.

I was hoping to be in the revision stages by now, but I am also writing one for another school (UofT), so I haven't been able to fully focus. I am getting a little bit tired of writing about myself, haha. How is your application process going?

Hi! How are you liking the program so far? Would you say that doing nursing related research projects is doable in first year? I've read a little bit about their Summer Research program (very interested), but I heard not a lot of people get involved--why do you think so? Is it very competitive? As for the application process--what do you think made you stand out from the pool of applicants? Do you have any advice as to how to be very personal in the supplementary apps without sounding cliched? I apologize for bombarding you with questions, but I'm very excited to be applying and really hoping I get in, hah.

No worries, I appreciate your help regardless! I realize my statements sound more like cover letters as they weren't very "personal." I'm still trying to answer core questions like "why nursing" and what I can bring to the program without straying far from addressing the actual questions. Tricky to do so in two 250 word essays, but I'll hopefully get there! Revising bit by bit now. Could I ask what made you choose UofT over UBC? I'll only be applying to UofT, Nipissing, and McMaster, but UofT is my top choice for sure.
