  1. Hi I’m Samantha, I am currently a CST (certified surgical tech) and am planning on applying the Gwinnett Tech nursing bridge program. Most bridge programs only allow paramedics and LPNs but this is the first program I have seen to let surgical techs apply. I was just wondering if any other surgical techs have gone through a program like this or to nursing school in general after being a tech, and if I could get any advice! Right now I have most of my pre-reqs done I’m having to retake A&P 1 over again due to it expiring ?, and then I have to take English 1102 and psyc 2103, and I will be good to go I also as of right now have science GPA of 3.12 and Kaplan score of 84, and hoping to get an A in A&P to raise my GPA!
  2. Anyone know what the cut-off scores were for the bridge program? I am planning on applying for Spring 2022, I am having to retake A&P 1 because it expired and hoping to get an A. And I also have to take human growth and development and humanities. I have a 3.2 and I got an 84 on that Kaplan.
  3. OK yeah I thought so. It says 3 semesters on the website, but then also says part time Spring, Summer/fall/Spring full time. So I wonder if the second Spring semester would be a short semester that would end before may?
  4. Does anyone know how many semesters the program is? I know you start in the Spring C term. I guess in comparison to the traditional nursing program.
  5. Hi, I unfortunatly missed the deadline for 2021, but hopefully applying for either the fall ADN or Bridge 2022. I graduated as a Surgical Tech from CTC in 2018 and have been working since then. I always wanted to do nursing eventually, and saw GTC is now adding surgical techs to the bridge program. I already have my associates degree for surg tech, but I still need to take ENG 2301 and human growth PSYC. my GPA is kinda low 3.2, but hoping to get a good grade on the Kaplan!
  6. Yes I am planning on retaking the TEAS, honestly I will probably be applying next Year instead of this fall, haven’t really had much time to prepare this year because of work. I also have already taken all the pre-reqs.
  7. At the end of the program the whole class takes the test. The hours also depend on where you work I for an example work at a surgery center so I work Monday-Friday 6:45-3:30 sometimes til 5, so my shift is 8hrs sometimes 10 if you are on the late schedule. Hospitals sometimes have longer shifts like 3 12hrs or 4 10hrs and nights. And no problem I wish I had someone to talk to before applying i know it would’ve been really helpful!
  8. Hey! Yeah it depends on where you work and if you are certified or not, a hospital may pay more than a surgery center, and some hospital also pay more if you are certified, I am making around 22-23 an hour which I think is pretty good for only being 2 years out of school.
  9. Hi my name is Samantha, I am currently a CST (certified surgical technologist) at CHOA, and I am considering applying to the ADN program for fall 2020! I actually completed the Surgical Tech program at Chatt Tech, and since then have been working at CHOA, I love my job there and love being a surgical tech, but really want to advance my career in the medical field by becoming an RN! I took my teas a few years ago before the surg tech program and got a 70 which is the minimum score and have a 3.46 GPA after the program. I would love to discuss with anyone thoughts about the program and any advise, about program admission, working while in the program, and tips and tricks for a higher score on the teas and CT exam!
