Hi there!:) So first off CONGRATS on moving to the interview phase!! My interview was a group interview so there was me and two other people being interviewed by a small panel of people which included the unit manager, a CNA, two experienced nurses and a nurse who was just wrapping up her residency orientation from the previous cohort. They started off by asking us to give a little intro about ourselves and then proceeded to ask us questions from a list and each of us would take turns answering them. The interviewers would start with a different person every question but we would all end up answering them after the first person went, so definitely make sure to come prepared with at least 3-4 different examples/backup answers that you could possibly use. The questions were your general interview questions like tell us about a time when you went above and beyond for a patient, dealt with an angry patient/customer (they know this is for your first nursing job so you can use examples from clinicals as a student and prior work experience even if it’s retail, babysitting etc. It all counts!!), how do you deal with a stressful situation, what would you do if you saw a nurse doing something illegal even if they are your friend, how to deescalate a situation, how to deal with/what if you don’t get along with your coworker – never bring personal issues to work, etc. There are a lot more examples of questions like this online but I sort of blacked out during that interview haha. Make sure to dress professionally. ALSO, bring A LOT of questions to ask them. It shows you’re very interested and they like that. Not even exaggerating, I’d bring about 7-8 if you can because they kept expecting us to ask them question after question even if it felt like that was the end of it. The residency itself is going pretty well- a little overwhelming but my preceptor is fantastic and slowly but surely, I’m gaining more confidence in myself; it just takes time and practice ? Good luck to you! I hope it goes well and please feel free to ask me anything else!!
