Yes, I think verbal offers before reference checks have happened before (I've seen in previous threads), but I'd imagine it's contingent on good references... then they'll get the official offer letter. UCSF won't hire without a reference check. and it sounds like references are generally taken into consideration before an offer is made. FYI, my references were requested before my interview. In prior new grad cycles, it sounded like a reference request meant you probably got the job, but not this cycle. *this is mostly what I've gathered from reading these threads/personal experience, I am not UCSF HR haha*

Interviewed Monday morning, received offer call Wednesday morning, call from HR shortly after that, then received offer letter by ~noon on Wednesday. I don't think all units work this quickly however ?

I *think* you should receive a call from the hiring manager/unit director/etc first with the verbal offer, and then if you accept, they will reach out to HR to get your offer letter to you. HR called me first to go over some basic info (pay, benefits, etc.) before they sent my offer letter. That's how it worked for me at least... good luck!

I just heard that I *did not* get heme/onc. Congrats to those of you that move forward and get offers, and congrats to anyone who got an interview at all - it is a huge accomplishment. ❤️

They do! This is my fourth time getting waitlisted. I think they prefer to waitlist over giving out denials but it’s really inconsiderate to those waitlisted. They give us no information on the length of the waitlist or our position, so we are not informed enough to know if we should try again for another cycle at usf or just accept another schools offer. I ultimately tried again (and again and again) since I thought I might have a chance after being waitlisted all those times. But I was probably at the very end of the waitlist, and should have been denied from the beginning. Would have saved me some heartache. I was waitlisted for one other school and they at least said what my position was and the length of the list, so you know if there’s a chance. I ended up accepting another offer entirely but I would have loved to go to USF

They literally waitlist everyone ha. It’s a real bummer. I was waitlisted also But I got in elsewhere so I guess it’s OK, though I really wanted to go to usf. Sorry girlfriend:(

Hi Chong! We got an email last night saying that they are considering delaying our start date or keeping it as is. They’re giving everyone the option of deferring to a later cohort as well. They said they’d have an answer by next Friday April 3rd on whether or not we’d start on time. PM me your email and I’ll forward the email to you.

No but the website (if you click the covid related banner at the top and look at the answers to the questions) does say Summer sessions are planning to start on time. There’s still time for that to change however. I assume it will be online instruction for the first class (6 weeks) and then hopefully things will be better by then. TBD. I wish they would communicate with us about the start date tho - I need to know if I should quit my job or wait haha

Well.. I’m at 23/31. And I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting in. The math doesn’t really add up to be honest. Half the people who got accepted would have to decline and then some people on the waitlist would also have to decline. They only have 24 slots per cohort.

So sorry. I just got waitlisted as well. #23 of 31. Gotta keep trying I guess . ?
