I doubt there would be a correlation between passing rate and years ICU experience, too. I was just kind of brainstorming and throwing it out there as maybe a train of thought that someone who really wanted to be cynical might follow, since you were wondering if you were being too cynical. Frankly, I think 1 year ICU experience is plenty for a CRNA program. You learn so much new stuff in the program anyways, and you definitely get treated like you don't know anything during clinicals no matter how much prior nursing experience you have.

I think jjjoy's point is that CRNA's with less ICU experience will be less marketable and will have fewer viable employment alternatives to being a CRNA. Although, I haven't heard of any CRNA that actually went back to working as a floor nurse. Still some interesting insight. If you really wanted to be cynical you might suggest schools are accepting less experienced ICU nurses with the hope of having some of them fail the program and have to be readmitted for additional tuition and fees. But, I think that's probably over the edge.

You do realize this is a nurse anesthesia forum, right? So, other than the obvious answer that you will get from the folks here, I would suggest job shadowing or even volunteering so you can see real life day-to-day activities of CRNA's and pharmacists to help you make up your mind. Regarding the difficulty level of those undergrad courses, I guess that might depend on your previous background, your study habits, and your ability to retain knowledge.

Of course not. Are there as many positions open for CRNA's as in Nursing? Does that mean there is a weaker demand for CRNA's than for nurses?

Think to yourself: how many times have I heard of a nurse getting burnt out versus how many times have I heard of a sonographer getting burnt out?

I think different schools have different deadlines, so you should check with your school's financial aid department. I can tell you that at UNE, the recommended deadline for getting all necessary financial aid materials completed and received was May 1.

I was also approved at the prime + 4% rate. Maybe if I don't send in the paperwork for a while they'll contact me with some "good news" ...

GPA isn't everything. I interviewed at TCU with a 4.0 GPA and was rejected.

Well, we haven't had to pay for daycare, thanks to family. But,a coworker told me he's paying $700/month for his 3-year old. (I had no idea daycare was that high!) So, your daycare costs are probably okay. Maybe you could wait a few years until your kids are in school? Regarding specific insurance companies, we found the best rates through State Farm. But, it pays to talk to different agents. Good luck to you.

Here's my advice: Shop around for different insurers. You are grossly overpaying on insurance of every type: homeowners, auto, health, and life. If you combine all of those lines with one insurer, you will qualify for substantial discounts. Also, maybe you could lower your policy limits or raise deductibles. How about a catastrophic-only health policy? And, I think you're getting ripped on daycare. Best of luck to you with your decision.

The Sallie Mae Tuition Answer Loan has a 6.5% "Supplemental Fee" that is assessed at disbursement. The Wells Fargo Education Connection Loan is the only private loan I've seen that does not have any special fees and does not have a maximum loan amount that is dependent on the school's certification. It has a decent interest rate as long as you have excellent credit, too. That one looks like a winner.

According to the NextStudent website, the origination fee on a graduate student private loan is 6.5% and the interest "starts as low as: LIBOR + 4.65%" LIBOR is currently at 5.110% ... and increasing. For the person that asked if interest begins to accrue immediately or upon disbursement, my understanding is that interest begins to accrue immediately on every loan, even Staffords. However, Staffords are partially subsidized by the federal government in that the feds will pay the interest for you during the deferment period on the first $8500 of your Stafford loan.

I received my rejection letter from TCU yesterday.

I was admitted with Harris Methodist as my clinical site.

Received my letter from TWU today in the mail.

Oops. I typoed. I was actually told by the director that the number was being reduced from 130 to 120, not from 140 to 120. Either way, I'm pretty sure TWU has, and will continue to have, the largest class in the nation.

I was told they are accepting 120, down from 140 last year. They offered me a spot on the day of my interview, but I have not yet decided if I will accept it. I have still not heard from TCU, who I interviewed with 2 weeks ago.

Are you sure your friend gave you all the information regarding why he was dismissed from the program? If the only reason was because he didn't get along with the assistant program director, I think he should appeal his dismissal.

To those of you that have already attended TWU, which choice did you get from your clinical site rankings? Did you get your 1st choice, 2nd choice, 5th choice, etc? Is there anyone out there that did not get into TWU because they didn't rank enough clinical sites on their preference form?
