  1. I found an online BSN program here in CT and graduated in May 2021. They suspended the program due to low enrollment.
  2. Pacific just told me no........do you have restrictions on your license through a monitoring program or your state board of nursing?
  3. Hey, Just wanted to give you a status update. I haven't heard from a lot of places, but the ones I have heard from so far: Central Michigan - the program director told me that they do allow you to complete the clinical requirements at your current place of work, so long as it isn't on the "same level"-I told her in detail that I work at an residential inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility and I'm fairly certain she is confusing it with a traditional hospital.....so that one is maybe Liberty - definitive "no"...but they did write..."Sadly, we do require applicants to hold a RN that is unrestricted/unencumbered." LOL California State University - you wrote "in Diego Hills" in your post and I could not find any location other than "Dominguez Hills" for California State University. They informed me that they do not admit students from outside California (I am in Connecticut). So it looks like any Cal State School is a hard "no". Arizona State University- I wrote them and they wrote me back to give them a call....still waiting to hear. Although the program requirements on the website state "current RN license in good standing with the state board of nursing"....so not too hopeful Pacific College- I just got a text message from someone named Michelle in response to my email but it sounds more like a general follow up solicitation when you request info.....no answers yet from them I put emails in to all the program directors at the online schools here in CT, but they all clearly state on their websites that restricted/encumbered licenses are a definite no.....so I'm not too hopeful. Also.....FYI. I saw that Quinnipiac University is on your list. They are located here in Hamden, CT. They are very strict and insanely expensive. Let me know how you make out with them. Still making my way down your list.....thanks again. Let me know how you are progressing.
  4. Thank you so much for your help. I have today off work and am going to use the info you gave me to see what I come up with. Also thank you for giving me some hope, I have been pretty down about this for a while now. I will be sure to let you know how it goes.
  5. I am in the state of CT and in a similar situation. I have not been able to apply to or find any online RN to BSN that will accept any RN with a “restricted/encumbered” license. I have been getting email responses from the program directors stating that the required clinical hours are the issue. My RCO (Reinstatement Consent Order) through the CT Department of Public Health prohibits me from working or functioning as a RN in any healthcare setting without a practice monitor who fills out monthly reports for the DPH. This is why all online RN to BSN programs with clinical hour requirements will not admit you to their program. I have been looking for programs with no clinical hour requirements but have yet to come across a single one. Let me know how your search goes.
  6. I was intrigued by your post as I am in a similar situation and currently attempting to start an online RN to BSN program. I had a few questions. Does Chamberlain have required clinical hours as part of their online BSN program? Did you have any restrictions on your license through your state board of nursing (i.e. narcotics restriction, no solo practice, required practice monitor, etc) or were you in a diversion program that allowed you to keep an unrestricted license provided you complied with your terms (urine screens, meetings, etc)? Huge difference in terms of prerequisites to enter and complete an online BSN. Every program I have researched thus far clearly lists “current/valid unrestricted/unencumbered state RN license” as a prerequisite for admission, as the clinical requirements cannot be completed in any local healthcare setting with restrictions on your license.
  7. Greetings fellow nurses, I am currently finishing my 1st year of a 4 year Reinstatement Consent Order (RCO) with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. I have an amazing job as a staff nurse at a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility and currently hold an associates degree. I am looking to continue my education by enrolling in an online RN to BSN program but seem to have hit a brick wall, as each and every program I have researched throughout the country has “current unencumbered/unrestricted RN license” as an admissions requirement due to clinical course placement. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who has dealt with this issue or has any useful information. I have an incredibly supportive Director of Nursing, Medical Director and CEO who are fully aware of all the details of my RCO and have offered to help in any way that they can. I’m wondering if there are any online RN to BSN programs in existence that do not have a clinical component/requirement, as it appears that my Consent Order precludes any program that has one from accepting me. I realize ultimately I may have to accept the possibility of successfully completing my 4 years of monitoring before continuing my education. However I will research every possibility and contact every possible program director before doing so. I never thought I’d have the wonderful job that I have today much less get my license back, so I know where there’s a will there’s a way.
