  1. Hey! Just got a email that I’m in the program. A little bummed I will have to find a place to stay each time I switch clinical sites that are spread out over the U.S. Director and School Staff seemed super nice though. May consider Kentucky since I applied there too. Don’t have much money for all that housing?
  2. Ok, thanks a lot. I was getting nervous about answering tons of clinical questions. I think those stats are pretty awesome. You must have gotten an early interview?were there a lot of people with you to interview? Do you have any friends attending with you yet?
  3. Hi, I don’t know anything about Michigan, but I have heard good things about MSU graduates getting great jobs after school. I have an interview for MSU Friday Jan 10. May I ask how your interview experience was for MSU and if you don’t mind sharing you stats? Mine are 3.7 gpa. Science gpa-3.8 I just want to see how I measure up. This is close to home for me.
  4. Hum... I don’t know about others, I have a son, but he is about to graduate school and start college. I have never interviewed at this school though. Yea that would be tough moving away from a family, but I’m certain you won’t be the only one. I am very excited about school. I am an older student, so hopefully that won’t hurt me. That is part of the reason why I did not take the GRE. What ICU and area are you from?
  5. Hello all! I got my email for my interview and I’m so excited! I’ve already taken that day off work so I’m all set. Will update when I know more!
  6. Well I did not take the GRE, but they just used my MCAT score which was 508. They asked a lot of clinical questions and my mind just went blank for a few seconds on most, but I eventually answered them. They ask about your ICU you work in. I knew a lot about our CRRT machines because I taught a class, but I had to take time to think about ballon pump placement and reasons for it deploying when it does. It also took me some time to explain the antagonists for medications like isoproterenol-very old drug. A friend said I should have just taken the GRE and that may have helped, but I took the MCAT three years ago and did not want to study for the GRE. I am a shy person though, so maybe I should have spoken up more. They asked very few personality questions. Hum that all sounds good to me. Maybe it was your science GPA. Sometimes they frown on older students (Which is unfair) or nurses not at a level 1 hospital too.
  7. Oh no! Maybe it was your ICU experience or did you have the CCRN? I have heard they give preference to those with the CCRN and lots of experience in the ICU. I hope you get into the other school and I’m glad you have another interview because I had an interview earlier at another school and I did not make it in so I am banking on this one. They said I did not interview well at UMKC so I am going to practice really hard so that I do not seem as nervous in this interview
  8. So crazy, just got my interview instructions! YAY!!!
  9. Hi, nope nothing yet. No one else responded either so maybe it’s just us applying. We’re a shoe in if so. ? just called the coordinator and she said we should definitely hear something by the end of next week if not this week, so just a little more waiting?
  10. Hi fellow nurses, I thought I would start a thread for all of us applying to Missouri state for the 2020 class start. From what I have read in the past interviews are on a Saturday in January for those of us that put our applications in later. There are some who will be interviewed early because they submitted their application earlier this year. They want you to have your CCRN, but will accept the GRE as well. They like you to have at lease 2 years in ICU, but have made exceptions from what a past poster said. As long as you are enrolled and finish any required prerequisites before your interview I think you will still be considered. Last year I believe they accepted 24 into the program and will probably be admitting around the same amount this year. I’m super excited to attend school. I am uncertain of my GPA for the last 60 hours because I have a 3.6 for my ADN and 3.7 for my BSN, ( mostly A’s and a few B’s for both programs) but I think I’m good. I have not taken the GRE nor do I plan to. I have worked in L&D for 1 year, stepdown for 6 months, CCU for 1 year and I have been in a level 1 trauma medical ICU for 2.5 years. I precept, charge, shadow, volunteer, participate in committees and have my CCRN, TNCC, ACLS, PALS, BLS and NIHSS certs. I am taking organic chemistry now, but I have A’s in all the prerequisites except chemistry 2, it is a B. Hope I get the A in organic chemistry now though. I live 3 hours from the school, so I’d probably just stay on campus and come home on weekends. I have been working extremely hard toward this goal for about 4 years now and I feel good about my chances. I will update when I get word of my interview and if/when I get in! How about you?
  11. Hello, has anyone heard anything yet? How many applied and when will we hear anything? When I sent in my app I got an email stating that they will let us know this week. Then I got a second email from the coordinator stating they will let us know towards the end of the month through email. I’m really excited and I’m interested in chatting about it if anyone wants to!
