  1. Yes things happen, and yes you fixed it. Something I like to do every time I transfer G-Tube pt is quickly tape up the tube to the abdomen to minimize the chances of it coming out because unlike you, I would not know how to replace a G-Tube!
  2. You are 100% right. Any situation you are put in where you feel for whatever reason that patients are being put at risk due to inadequate knowledge/competency, should be assessed. If no training is being offered I would speak to OB people and ask them to train you- if that is an option for you. You can also look for courses that offer periop OB training. There are options out there. Until you find something that works for you, make it clear that you will not be able to participate in something where you are not prepared to act if an unexpected emergency would occur. I am fully with you on the fact that nothing matters more than our and our patients safety. Keep up your good work!
  3. Hello, I just read your post. I could empathize with you because the way you describe yourself at work and in life in general, resonated with me. Like you, I also beat myself up if/when I thought I could do/be better. What helped me with that was a fellow nurse I was lamenting to that I did not give it my best as I should have replied with: oh great, so now you realize you are not perfect, good, join the club. Now when something happens, I remember her wise words. Instead of commiserating with me and trying to make me feel better she told me the truth. I am not perfect, nobody is. Good luck with your journey, your patients are lucky to have you!
  4. Thank you so much for this article! I started reading, figured you a new grad and this does not apply to me, and then noted you saying that you are a nurse for 25 years! I've been having a hard time lately with IV's so your writing really reassured me! Thank you!
  5. Hey! Yes, I also haven’t heard anything back yet since the phone interview...good luck to everyone!
  6. Hello! Thanks for starting this thread! Have you heard anything back yet?
