  1. Hi everyone, Just wanted to throw out there I didn’t get my orders cut until 17Dec2020 for the FY 2021 cohort. Hang in there!
  2. I had asked a similar question during my application process, and was told by our Baylor contact that CCRN is the only extra certification they look for. Hope this helps!
  3. FWIW, I have been accepted into the same class as MikeyD. Several of us who were accepted just took the Iowa Central Community College Intro to Organic and Biochemistry course to fulfill the application requirements and got in just fine. So if the rest of your packet is relatively strong (and your stats sound great to me), I think you should be fine. My suggestion is to focus on the GRE ?
  4. YAAAAAASSSS!
  5. MTF. Been in the Reserve for some time now so have been doing PHAs every year. My commissioning physical in 2018 was done at an MTF as well
  6. @MikeyD you’re the man, thank you so much! I my recruiter must have misspoke about what I have pending regarding any waivers. You have been a gem on this thread, Sir.
  7. Accepted by the board as well! Apparently I’m pending a couple admin things so I’m not calling everybody just yet. My recruiter says I’m pending a medical waiver but we can’t guess what that means because I’m PULHES 1 in every category. I guess I got an age waiver to commission so maybe it’s that? Also something is pending with my security clearance. I had to get my fingerprints redone about a month ago — that’s the only thing I can think of. I already have a secret security clearance so I was told I would not need a reinvestigation. Do you have any guesses/insight MikeyD? My recruiter thinks I should be safe and I can go ahead and tell people... Congratulations to everyone who got good news today. Those on the OML, hang in there — we’re all pulling for you!
  8. If you do, you will go down in history as a hero to all of us. And if you believe in reincarnation, you will come back as an EAGLE — majestic!
  9. Thanks itsnurseag and MikeyD!
  10. Oh God I hope they aren’t reducing how many students they’re taking because of Covid ?. I feel like that’s a logical reason for not having admissions decisions yet. Feel free to tell me that’s ridiculous and I worry too much — please!
  11. 100% — I came back to my unit after an extended paternity leave, and seriously about half have either left or decided to go back to school to get away from bedside critical care =/
  12. Thanks for clarifying MikeyD, that makes me feel a lot better!
  13. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) said there were over 200 applicants who submitted this year (!) Apparently a good amount of the active duty gets placed in another program for active military only. Anyone know anything else about that? I hope everyone on this thread gets in — good luck to all!
  14. Hmmm, this thread seems to have died off... Did anyone who has been posting on this thread actually end up applying?
  15. Hi everyone, Just wanted to give an update! I was FINALLY able to get my shadow experience (found a dude who's friends with a dude who knows the dude I needed to talk to that was willing to be a dude for me). Retook my GRE to get an overall 310 with 4.5 in writing (1st time didn't finish second essay). Interview went very well -- it lasted about 30 min. and got a "highly recommend" evaluation! Is anyone aware of the different levels of "recommend" there are, or has anyone heard different? I guess my biggest concern is I wasn't able to schedule my CCRN until Sep. 1, so I'm gonna have to say "no" on the Baylor application :( My GPA is strong, so hopefully I'll be good! I counted 85 recipients on the reminder email for the application deadline from LTC Kertes -- best of luck to everyone on this forum! Fortunately, since I am already commissioned in the Reserve I just needed to provide my PHA from last year, so no MEPS for me :)
  16. Hi Lisa, Thanks for your reply. Did you see my response above for your paperwork issues? Was that at all helpful? That’s frustrating to hear you are getting the runaround... I don’t see why your agency would have a problem verifying hours worked, or why your most recent manager/educator wouldn’t sign off on that list of basic skills! Please keep us posted, and I will be sure to do the same. -Patrick
  17. Is anyone else having trouble finding a CRNA to shadow? The hospital I work at considers those shadowing as "visitors," so all shadowing is suspended until further notice because of Covid ?. My recruiter has been equally unsuccessful in arranging anything at military facilities... I this point I feel like I'm stuck! After working so hard to meet all the other application requirements, I will be devastated if THIS is what prevents me from applying ?
  18. Sorry for the late reply! I'm even more sorry I don't have a clear answer for you. I am looking at my own hours verified form and see what you mean by its reference to the DA 7653. I wouldn't imagine you would need the skills form filled out by every single place you have worked but your most recent, but also see where an HR representative wouldn't be comfortable attesting to " has demonstrated the ability to perform the requisite nursing skills for the AOC per DA Form 7653." Maybe your recruiter would be OK altering the verbiage on the hours verified form for your past locations? I would hope your current/most recent manager wouldn't have a problem checking off the skills listed on the DA 7653 -- all those checkoffs are pretty standard to any employees orientation paperwork whether it be for a traveler or full time staff in my experience. Good luck! I respect that 100%. Thank you for your response!
  19. Thanks for sharing! Can you elaborate on how it was such a hard interview???
  20. I just heard from my recruiter they are not doing the shadow/Phase II interviews on site any more (cuz 'Rona). Now we are supposed to shadow a provider for 16 hours on our own, and get letter of recommendation from the head CRNA of whichever hospital. Interviews will now be done virtually. Anyone else hear about this???
  21. The DA Form 7653 is what you're looking for. And yes, it needs to be filled out by your current supervisor. Make sure they hand-initial and date EACH LINE. I've attached a copy that just has my general info on it ? Are you working with a recruiter yet??? I'm thinking no -- otherwise you wouldn't be asking about that form! Make sure you contact one ASAP if you haven't already. Hope this helps! DA Form 7653.pdf
  22. Hi all! I'm glad this thread has already gotten started, as I have my eyes set on the 2021 cohort as well! @Bonnie Bailey, thanks for the tip on the ICCC O-chem/Biochem course! Nursing Experience: CTICU since Oct 2017 Military Experience: 4 years Active Duty airborne infantry, 4 years Reserve combat medic, 4 years flight medic, commissioned as critical care nurse (66S) March 2019. Good luck to all of you, and looking forward to sharing info back and forth along the way!!
