The cpr class has to be American heart association AHA for healthcare providers. There’s different certifications so you should call and confirm with them what they will be covering. a free class is nice! I paid about $80 plus extra for the required book. Took 4 hours to complete.

I’m not sure when you will need to complete by, but I am assuming you have a Bitof a grace period to complete since you were just accepted. Congratulations by the way!!! i went to the AHA website-menu-CPR and then was able to search for a testing site in my area. There’s quite a few of them in p’cola. I found one in Gulf Breeze. It took 4 hours, costed be about $80 plus $20 for the book and got my card within minutes after passing. Let me know if you need any help!

I’m not sure if I mentioned this, but I was able switch to the day program. I offered my spot to someone who may have originally wanted evenings but couldnt get their pick - so, who are my day people!!!? Anyone have any issues with their castle branch stuff? I was so organized with submitting my information, and they still kicked back like three things to be corrected or verified. And those fingerprints! The machine wouldn’t accept half of my prints and I had to press my fingertips down like a gazillion times before I got good reads. I just sewed my patch on my scrub top! That made me feel like I was in the home stretch and it made me feel a little nervous for a minute or two. How many of you purchased the nursing top with the zipper?. I tried on a small and medium - turns out I needed a “smedium” but they don’t carry that size. I settled with the white scrub top and had to purchase a patch. anyone doing only ebooks? Anyone from Gulf Breeze?

Based on what I heard, 21 points is the average number people have. If you have 50 people apply with 21 points, I can see how hard it would be not get “waitlisted” - if that is even a thing. How did you do on your HESI? I had 24 points, and 18 came from the HESI. One of the admins at the Warrington campus told me my points were competitive, but I could afford to retake the HESI to raise my A&P score. It was my lowest, and I made an 80, but heck no no NO! I wasn’t going to put myself through that again. I kept my 24 points and prayed real loud that I would get accepted.

SOMETHING I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY - THEY DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN BACK IN THE LAB WITH YOU AT LABCORP FOR YOUR DRUG SCREEN!! I'm sure that sounds obvious to some, but I have always put my kid in a stroller and brought her with me for every lab I have ever done, so I didn't think it would be any different for simply peeing in a cup. I was in a pickle until I got someone to watch my little one for 5 whole minutes!!

Yes - this is a basic rundown. Your overall GPA, and pre-req GPA are seperate. (4.0=4pts 3.0=3pts and so on) HESI scores in each category/not overall score- (90+=4pts, 80+=3pts and so on) I believe that is it. I had 24 points. 4.0 GPA's =8pts and the other 16 came from my HESI.

Hey everyone, I know we are all knew to the discussion, but if you could hit the quote button when replying that would be awesome! that way everyone knows who is replying to who. It gets a little confusing when there are random replies not tied to anyone specific. you can always delete the quote within the reply if that bugs your or if the replies start to get too long...OR you can put their name in the reply so we know who to look back on. Thanks!! With that being said - CONGRATULATIONS to all who have been accepted. I can't wait to meet anyone who will be doing the evening program - so far I have not found ANYONE who will be in my class :(

The cool thing is the documents are updated. Post a comment asking what A&P file you should use. A million gazillion people are so happy to reply with the correct one. If I remember correctly, when you look at the documents, the A&P file you should use says “use this one” or something similar. I’m telling you, the 1st 7 questions were in order on that document as they were asked on my HESI. I didn’t realize until after my test when I went to try to figure out the few I missed. Anyway, I scored an 80% - I never got the chance to use the study group on FB because I joined at the last minute just to be nosey and see what they were all doing. If I had an extra week to study that document, I guarantee I’d have made a high 90. I’m that confident in those documents!!! You got this. Use the group to get that HESI A&P competitive. That’s the one subject people tend to struggle with the most. You want in the nursing program, you gotta get that score up! let me know if I can be further help. Good luck.

I 100% think the *Online HESI A2 Study Group* on Facebook is the only way to go when it comes to studying for A&P. They have these documents uploaded for all to use. My test questions came directly from these documents. Just read them and memorize! People load their scores for all to see and they are making A&P scores in the 90s as proof that the study material found on this group works. Good luck.

I did get accepted for the evening program! I got an email, but nothing in the regular mail. I guess since I accepted the spot online there was no need to send paper acceptance letter. The more points the better, but I think you’ll be okay with 21! good luck!

As soon as orientation begins we should definitely discuss the processes involved - like where everyone is going for immunizations, CPR certification (I went ahead and got that knocked out before the hectic holidays kick into gear), background checks and all the other details we may find a little difficult to line up! Feel free to keep posting any new info you get via the department, or anything you hear from other nursing students that will be a help to all of us newbies.

Congratulations!!! I’m not sure how different the HESI exam is for RN vs LPN - but either way I can vouch that it was a test I never want to take again (yet, I hear from other nursing students that there are many more HESI tests in my future).

They won’t count towards your overall GPA or pre-requisite GPA, which will work to your advantage if your grades were any less than a “B” in those classes - they will go towards meeting your program requirements, though. You shouldn’t have to take them again!

I received my acceptance letter for the evening program yesterday via Pirate mail. Maybe I'll get a hard copy as well via regular mail. I applied for daytime and evening program. My preference was evening, but I never indicated on my application that I had a preference. I don't think you missed the deadline to get in this term. I read somewhere online that they accept applications up to the start of the semester. So, if there's a spot, you should be able to snag one. especially with your points. I also heard they go through like 4 rounds before filling up the classes. A lot of people defer their spot or drop out of the running all together for various reasons. I have 24 points, I think. My situation is quite different because all my pre-req's were taken 10+ years ago and they didn't count towards my current overall GPA or Pre-req GPA. The only thing that counted towards my GPA were my micro-biology and nutrition because I took them last year. Keep me posted!! Even if we get different programs, we can all be a great help to one another throughout the whole process!! Good luck
