Ha, thanks for the tips. How can I find another recruiter? This person seems to be the only health professions recruiter in my area--all leads and contact points go back to him.

I have allergic rhinitis, aka seasonal allergies. I was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis and prescribed Montelukast, an asthma medication that also treats allergic rhinitis. I guess the recruiter saw the word asthma and turned the other way.

Does anyone know whether RN experience is required to apply for the HPSP? I'm finding conflicting information online. Also, my recruiter stopped talking to me back in February despite continually trying to reach out to him. I have allergic rhinitis, which has me taking asthma medications for my seasonal allergies. Allergic rhinitis is historically waivered, but I'm not sure if this recruiter knows this and just wrote me off for having asthma. Is it possible to get in contact with a different recruiter, or is this one recruiter the only one I can contact for my area?

Can someone please breakdown the different areas of emergency nursing for me? I'm from a non-clinical background and just started an accelerated program in order to pursue my dream in providing medical assistance during large scale disasters. Emergency nursing seems to most closely align with the disaster relief training I'm after--but please correct me if I'm wrong. The ENP program at the school I started going to requires at least 1 year of experience in the ED before beginning the specialty specific courses. Yet with my limited knowledge of clinical things, I'm wondering if this is even the right field for me to pursue. Different specialties in nursing I've encountered that sound interesting to me are: RNFA, Trauma nursing, wildnerness nursing, and emergency nursing. The school's website included some field exercises on the emergency nursing page--which is what drew me to the school, but the more I find out about their ENP program, the more I'm learning that it is basically strictly ED nursing. What is the difference with emergency nursing and trauma nursing? Are trauma nurses in the ED or ICU? What are the different level of traumas I've seen in other posts? Can someone please break this down for me? I'm so lost I'm considering just dropping out of the program and just joining the military to be trained as a medic. Also, what's a critical care nurse compared to emergency nurse and trauma nurse?

I'm also curious about this! But I'm one step behind you--how'd you get into the Nurse Corps? I've been trying to get my recruiter to give me more information, but once I mentioned I take asthma pills for seasonal allergies, he lost interest in helping me.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, but the ABSN + MSN honestly sounds more secure. The MN program says they're still pending approval, and it looks like it'll only give you an RN. I'm aiming for DNP, so having the BSN to back me up is valuable to me. They're also letting me skip some graduate classes since I already have an MPH and go straight towards the DNP after the BSN instead of the MSN. But if they do any nice incentives for the MN program like they do for the InEmory BSN, that could be another story ?

That is not what they told us at admitted students day. The first year of this program we train to be an RN, at the end of the first year we receive the BSN and take the NCLEX. The month after that, we start working towards the MSN portion of the program, in our specialized Nurse Practitioner program. EDIT: just looked at the MSN program mentioned. I think it'd be useful to further clarify this: MSN (without a BSN) ---> RN only ABSN + MSN program ---> RN and NP

Haha I'm still taking prereqs too! A&P 2 and Lifespan. Had a lil panic two weeks ago because I didn't have the prereqs to take lifespan, but I got an exemption after a couple days of freaking out. ? Now to pass the classes so I still qualify to start in May!

Nope. I got a school grant for about about 1/8th of the cost. For federal loan, idk if I've just reached the maximum from other degrees, or they really expect us to get additional private loans. I'm putting off thinking about loans till well after the holidays. Have you tried checking the page where you see your admission status? Check on a desktop rather than mobile and see if there's anything to click there.

Sorry you didn't get a reply earlier! Once you're admitted, you're admitted to both programs. the ABSN program starts and ends in the summer semester so then we can start the MSN program in the Fall after we finish the ABSN. I'm switching out the MSN for a DNP and for that, I'm not sure if I need a mandatory break for some experience.

Did you pay the tuition deposit yet? Everything seems to get rolling once that's paid for. I got my financial aid estimate a week after I paid the deposit. Fair warning though: I wish the school did more to help us financially for this program. The first time undergrads get a loan cap grant, why can't we?

Hello! Could we have an update on what you ended up doing? I just got into an accelerated program and will be working towards a BSN-MSN/DNP/ENP. The HPSP with the AF sounds like a good option to get experience and avoid loans.

I’m admitted on the opus portal as well! I’m assuming/hoping we’ll get a more official congratulations into the school when 5pm comes around!
