  1. You work any time you have more than one day off from school. You can request leave though for that time. Like for Spring break I only had to work a week, so I took the whole week off with AL. But for Summer, I worked for 3 months.
  2. Well! Long story! I'm a federal employee. I applied for a scholarship that will allow me to get my salary but JUST go to school, yay! Anything federal is slow as hell, so yep...it hasn't come through yet and I'm still working, boo! I say that to say...There have been a couple days where I spent 2-3 hrs. But since I'm working and going to school, I'm tired as hell! So I'm not studying as much as I should be ? I can see spending at least 2-3hrs EVERY day so that I can get ahead, but right now I'm just barely making pace. I'm a momma of 2 under 5yo, so I feel you! My husband is being very helpful with watching the kids in the evening even though he's tired as hell too because he has to be at work at 330am! Things are nuts right now. I'm hoping things come through soon for me. I use a housekeeping service that comes through every 2 weeks and does the big things like bathrooms, dusting, and mopping. So I just worry about not letting things get too cluttered/junky. Definitely using the dish washer more than I used to!
  3. 1st week down! Thus far, the material isn't difficult. BUT...I've been taking 1-2 classes at a time for a long time to get my pre-reqs done and now I'm taking SIX classes at once! So I would say the hardest part (in just the 1st week), is managing all the different apps/books and time. Edited to say, no, I don't have an option in how much I take at one time with this particular program. All or nothing!
  4. Me either! lol But the IDEAS makes sense to me! So I'm just trying to fill my head with positive thoughts.
  5. Thanks for this! I started a post a few days ago wondering if the LPNs going into the bridge seemed to have it easier or not because of their experience. I'm a LPN going into a full 2 yr program and people are all about scaring the crap out of students, so I was just trying to get an idea of what it would be like going in with some experience under my belt.
  6. I didn't even go to LPN school, so, can't compare! I was a Navy Corpsman, that's enough to test out of NCLEX in Cali to get license. I'm hoping hands on experience will be helpful in RN school
  7. Its funny how when asking for positive stories, people frequently offer up "its different for everyone", but when people voluntarily offer up their negative experiences, its projected as if everyone will have the same experience! Lol I know what's easy for some wont be easy for others....much like child birth! That isn't my point. I just want to hear positive experiences and what people feel helped them along the way. ??
  8. Thank you! That's helpful!
  9. Yea, that was my plan...I really think that's always been me anyway...lay low and get out of there undetected lol We had orientation already and I noticed a few know it all types, I think they'll keep the instructors distracted lol
  10. Thank you. I keep seeing people say instructors "had it out" for them. I've never experienced this in my many years of pre-reqs (it took foreveeeer lol), I wonder why some people think that. Like, what would be a clue? Lol
  11. If you took classes with LPNs (schools that bridge in LPNs will add the LPNs to the 2nd years of the RN program), do you feel the LPNs caught on a little easier to the information? I'm an LPN going into a RN program and I'm looking for any gleam of hope that I will have a leg up on getting through my RN program. My program only allows ONE fail in 2yrs (long story, I got my LPN in a different state then I'll be going to school in so I'm doing a full 2 yrs) and all scores have to be above a 79%. I'm trying my best to convince myself that I will be ok.
  12. PLEASE DON'T ANSWER IF IT WAS HARD FOR YOU. I keep hearing about how hard nursing school is. Well, I know that, or everyone would go and pass! I need to hear some positive stories! Have you heard of Hypnobirthing? One suggestion is to block out the negative stories that people always offer up so that that doesn't become YOUR reality. Please share with me what you enjoyed about nursing school and HOW you made it easy for YOU! Thanks in advance!
  13. Packets are out! I swear I think she waits until the end of the day to avoid having to answer questions all day lol. I'm just going to have to make a list for Tuesday! lol Looks like there are 21 students.
  14. For the ladies that got in, in fall, I'm curious...what did you guys do during orientation? I'm just wondering why it's a full day.
  15. Hi Britt, so because of the new requirements, a lot of people didn't qualify for the original July deadline. Everyone that qualified got in! (Unless they declined and went elsewhere). So even though we all got in, they did still do the lottery to decide if we got fall or winter. If there is room for you all in Winter, I have no clue why they would still need to do the lottery. They are pretty strict about the deadlines, so I doubt more people applied...are you still in the waiting period where those two people that were ineligible could challenge it why they are ineligible (basically bring proof that they are eligible)? That may be it. I think one or 2 people got re-added to our list while we were waiting too.
