UTK 2020 ABSN
I really appreciate that! I'm coming from the West Coast because there are very few accelerated BSN options in my area. With that said, I'll definitely reach-out if I have housing questions (which I probably will).

UTK 2020 ABSN
Lol see if I can make one! And nope, I haven't heard anything else yet, but constantly checking my email for any updates / info. Have you started looking at housing options at all?

Direct Entry of nursing Fall 2018 at Simmons
Yeah, good call... Maybe I'll contact one of the admissions advisors instead of Brian so that it comes across as less desperate (hopefully)..?

Direct Entry of nursing Fall 2018 at Simmons
It’s always good to have options! And I agree, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll get pulled from the Simmons waitlist! I wish they had more info about the number of people on the waitlist / how they choose people from the list. A lot of schools re-review all of the waitlist candidates before choosing one or more of them, but I can’t find anything about it on the Simmons website ?

Direct Entry of nursing Fall 2018 at Simmons
I'm thinking we will hear back late March-early April based on some previous years' posts I've come across. I applied to a couple of direct entry programs on the West coast as well as an ABSN program as a fallback option. I've only heard from Simmons (waitlisted) and UTK so far. What about you?

@mwander @xindin should we go ahead and make a FB page?

UTK 2020 ABSN
I couldn’t find a FB page for previous classes either. I did pay for my seat before the 2/12 deadline! Since then I haven’t heard anything besides receiving my official acceptance packet in the mail. I’m hoping to hear more about medical clearance tasks etc. in the next few days. Have you heard anything?

UTK 2020 ABSN
I have not, but I’m not exactly sure how to go about doing that. Great idea!

I agree, these programs are pretty expensive- especially when looking out of state!

Linfield College - Spring 2020
Hi there! Unfortunately I didn't learn this until it was too late, but NursingCAS (along with the PA/MD CAS programs) calculate your GPA using an average between an original class grade and the "retake" grade, which means that your grade is not replaced with the better one. My undergrad school used a grade replacement system, so I'm in the same boat with regards to my GPA coming out as much lower than I had expected. With that being said, OHSU and Linfield are my top two choices for ABSN. My family is from the Portland area, but if I am accepted to Linfield I will likely move closer to the campus. On-campus housing (i.e. dorms) seems to be more expensive usually.

Thank you! I'm also considering OHSU and Linfield College since I am from Portland, Oregon. However, I'm definitely interested in UTK and leaning towards going here as of right now! Have you applied anywhere else?

I was accepted as well! I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple of other schools, but I submitted my seat deposit today to secure my spot. Congrats everyone!

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) ABSN 2020
Thank you! I was accepted into the ABSN programs at University of Tennessee Knoxville and University of Massachusetts. Waitlisted for Simmons University direct entry MSN program. My end goal is to become an FNP, but number one school choice is OHSU since I'm from Portland and OHSU has a great nursing program. Did you apply to any others?

Was anyone in this thread accepted from the waitlist back in 2018? I have just been waitlisted for 2020 and am curious about my chances of being pulled.

Simmons Direct Entry 2020
Hello! I received an email yesterday indicating that I've been placed on the wait list. Anyone know how the Simmons wait list works? In other words, are we ranked or do they re-review everyone on the wait list should a spot open up?

University of Washington ABSN
@tropicalbreeze Thanks for the reply! Volunteering in hospitals is a great way to get hands-on experience. I’m hoping they look beyond grades too because although the minimum requirement is a 2.75 I have heard that UW is very competitive grade-wise (although this might be mostly for the medical school). I hope we get in! Good luck!

University of Washington ABSN
Hi guys, I am applying to University of Washington's accelerated nursing (ABSN) program and wondering if anyone has any input regarding my chances of admission. I have a Chemistry degree with a minor in Biology from Oregon State University. My undergraduate GPA including re-taken courses (OSU replaces initial grades for re-taken grades) is a 3.07; however, when including ALL courses ever taken (i.e. initial grade AND re-taken grade), my GPA is a 2.97. With regards to UW's "natural science" requirements, I have a 4.0. I have about a 3.7 in the overall UW pre-requisites. Experience-wise, I have been a medical scribe for more than 4 years with over 5,000 hours of experience across numerous medical specialties (ER, ortho surgery, Neuro, urology, and more). I have a little over 200 hours of direct patient contact care as a volunteer, at which time I worked primarily with RN's. My ultimate goal is to achieve an ABSN and then apply for an DNP (with focus in acute care gerontology) program after that. What do you think?
