  1. So I'm in an entry level master of science family nurse practitioner program. I don't have a background in nursing. My clinical rotation was canceled first semester and all my classes were online with 1/3 of the normal lab time to learn skills. This semester we had all our classes moved to online including lab, and my clinicals have been canceled until next week. I'm in between a rock and a hard place, I'm in my first year of my 4 year entry level nursing program and I feel terrible about it. The amount of anxiety I have going to clinical next week is overwhelming because I have had literally no hands on experience. All of my learning has been through zoom. What am I supposed to tell the nurse I'm following? My teachers seem drained and put in very little effort, and generally what I was once so interested in is fading. Are there any other students that feel this way? Or nurses that understand the current wave of students coming in are going to have very little hands on experience and been learning over zoom? I had this whole vision that I was going to be learning with teachers and TA's and practicing with my classmates all the time, but the culture right now is the exact opposite. I never see my class mates, even my clinical coordinator is always so stressed out and upset about work that our zoom sessions are tense and awkward. Who would of thought covid would both burn out current nurses and hinder the quality of the incoming nurses so much.
  2. Hey everyone, I haven't yet applied but I can't PM anyone due to lack of posts but I have a question as I'd like to apply to this program in the future. 1). For those of you that got in, are there other classmates in your cohort that can't speak a foreign language? I currently can only speak english, and should I go through all the trouble to apply here if that seems to be a must have? 2) I have a 3.85 final 60 units, and almost a 4.0 in science pre reqs, but I don't really have any nursing experience, Just experience working with patients in physical therapy. If anyone can let me know the dynamic of your cohort/ where I might stack up. feel free to PM me or reply to this. Congrats to all that got in :).
