I will be attending the ADN program at Kingwood starting next month. I will only have to commute to class twice per week and clinical on Saturday, I also work full time. If if makes any difference, I live in Pearland and the commute is almost an hour. But only having to make the drive in traffic twice a week is not a big deal considering the flexibility of program. They have options for either day or evening class and I chose evening.

So I was recently accepted into the nursing program at Kingwood and start classes next month. I work a full time job from 7-3:30 and chose this program because it seems to cater more to the working adult. They have the option to take either morning or evening classes and weekday or weekend clinicals. Once you are accepted you can request Saturday clinicals and at the orientation session you request morning or afternoon class. I received my schedule last week and have class on Monday 5-7:20 and Tuesday 5-9:20. My clinicals are on Saturdays from 6:30-4:30. I don't think the program will allow you to attend remotely but only having class twice a week helps a lot. I know a lot of the other programs have class all week which is why I couldn't do them.

The lab will only do the titers, I had to make an appointment with my PCP for the booster shot. I had my MMR in the 80’s but you may not have to worry about that if you had your vaccines later.

I would go ahead and get everything done at once that way you only have one needle stick and you don’t have to wait for results, they’ll all come around the same time. Also, in case one of your titers comes back negative like my Rubella did, you’ll have time to get a booster. No additional titer is required after a booster if you need it.

If you have had the MMR vaccine already, maybe when you were younger and also if you've had chicken pox or the vaccine for it, then I would suggest getting the titers since that is what Castle Branch is asking for upload. If they titers are positive then you will not need to get vaccinated and it would save time and money. You will only need to worry about getting another shot if the titers come back negative. I hope that I am making sense...

Try www.labreqs.com. I used them when my PCP didn't order the correct Hep B titer and needed it for the application. You select the tests that you need and you will be emailed a lab order to take to the Lab Corp or Quest lab nearest to you. I received my results the next day and it was only like $38 for the Hep B titer. They have all the tests that are required for us and they aren't super expensive, plus they will give you a code for 10% off your order.

I just got my acceptance email!!! I only applied to Kingwood with a 7.712.

I plan to continue to work full time while doing the program if I get in. I’ll see how it goes.

I rented mine text from Amazon for $23 but you can also buy it for about $70-80

I am taking the course with this professor as well. I copied the ISBN in Amazon and was able to get it for $150. I also rented a paperback text for $23 just because I study better from an actual text.

I reached out the professor for my course and she provided me with the ISBN number and link to the CoursePoint site where the book was available. I purchased it last week and have set up an an account so that I at least have access to the book and started studying. The "book" came in a DVD like case that included a card with an access code on the back and was $150.

UT Houston Health Science Center just started an RN-NP program about a year ago I believe. My end goal is also to become a NP and I came across this on their website.

I just read online that Lone Star was the given an OK to offer a BSN program in the future with plans to start enrolling in the Fall of 2020. If this is true, this would be a nice bridge once the ADN program is complete or even for those that are looking into a BSN program.

Pharmacology is listed as RNSG 1301, I had to get someone from the nursing department to register me for this course. I don't believe you are able to register yourself, when I tried I was not able to proceed without departmental consent and assistance.

I was enrolled in RNSG 1301 which is the course that is listed on the nursing degree plan for the ADN. KVG74 was correct, the one that you sent a screen shot of was not the correct one. The pharmacology courses require deparment consent in order to enroll. I don't believe we can enroll in this course on our own.

I received an email from the nursing department and was registered in one of online courses. Now I'm just trying to get the book that is required, the bookstore has it for almost $400 but hoping I can find it cheaper. I would like to start studying now so I'll have something to keep my mind occupied while I am waiting to hear if I was accepted.

I attempted to enroll this morning but was told that all sections at Kingwood are full and was placed on a waiting list. I hope that a spot becomes available soon. I am not sure how the waiting list thing goes.

Is anyone enrolled or planning to take Pharm this fall? I apologize if this has been asked previously and I missed the post.

I believe the only class that we are allowed to take outside of the plan is pharmacology. RNSG courses are not considered extra classes.

I believe they changed the application deadline some time yesterday. I was in a hurry to get my application in due to my PCP not ordering the correct Hep B titer and having to get it repeated and the deadline was still August 1st as of yesterday morning.

I took all my pre-reqs at a different university. All my classes are showing on the application page however at the top of the screen it says “A minimum 2.0 GPA is required to apply.” There is a note that says to click the submit button at the bottom of the page but I do not have a submit button and I think it’s because my application is incomplete due to my GPA not populating. I hope I’m making sense.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and also applying for the Spring 2020 class. I do have a question about transfer credits. Has anyone had to get courses taken elsewhere uploaded to their application and if so, how? I contacted the nursing department but currently getting the run-arounds. It’s the only thing I have left to do, the submit button isn’t even showing on my application and I believe it’s due to this. Thanks in advance!
