The program is definitely intense, but not 80 hours a week. Many of our cohort are either caregivers or have part-time jobs and are doing fine with it. You will have class on Monday and Tuesday typically plus an online class. The rest of the time is reserved for clinical, but you don't have clinical scheduled all of those days. It's typically 1 to 2 days a week. The first semester, clinical is in the lab on campus and after that, it will be in various hospitals mostly in the Round Rock area. You definitely cannot choose where you have your clinical rotations, and you will only get a couple days at Dell with your Peds rotation. I don't think any program would let you choose your clinical locations since the type of floors you're on goes along with what class you are taking. We also had a lot of virtual clinical through Vsims and a smattering of lab days throughout each semester to practice with the mannequins and simulated patients (actors). I live near downtown, and it only takes me about 20/25 minutes to get to campus, so I don't see that as a huge impediment.

The costs are already adding up for titers, physical, background checks, scrubs, polos, and stethoscope. I looked up the books for the first term and there are so many and even used are so expensive. Anyone planning on waiting for the first week of classes to buy books?

I just got my acceptance for the Round Rock campus. I’m so relieved.

The "My App is Incomplete" is very annoying, but I really don't think we should be stressing about that. I called them before I turned in my ApplyTexas, and they said I didn't even need to fill out the experience and volunteering part because they just look at the NursingCAS. I also got the email about the application status stating that the college of nursing had received all the necessary information. No background check email yet.

I just submitted my ApplyTexas application. Let the waiting begin! Last year they didn't hear acceptance news until the end of October. I'm so nervous and excited. Good luck everybody!

I was just on the phone with admissions. They are having technical difficulties with Elsevier and haven't received many of our HESI scores yet. They are dealing with the problem, but it has delayed finalizing the first step in the application process. They do use identogo, but typically notify the applicant before hand.

Did anyone get an email from Identogo for a criminal background check? I just received one, but haven't had any other communication yet. It doesn't say anything about TAMU, but says its for the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.

You also can't submit multiple applications. From the website: Applicants may only apply and be considered for admission into one BSN program per application cycle. Should an applicant need to make any changes to the program applied to in Nursing CAS, please contact the College of Nursing. Applicants should NOT submit multiple applications for the same application cycle.

Has anyone been contacted by TAMU to start the Apply Texas application after submitting nursingCAS? I feel so anxious about this multistep process, like I might mess up some small detail. I just submitted nursingCAS on Friday, so I'm not expecting anything yet. I'm just wondering how long I should wait before getting concerned.

I am applying to the Round Rock campus, and I'm so nervous because I don't have a back up plan school right now. I just submitted my application in Nursingcas and it's been verified. I'm waiting on the communication from TAMU to start my Apply Texas application. I'm also a stay at home mom working on my prerequisites after leaving teaching. I only have chemistry left. I have a liberal arts degree from The University of Texas. Stats - 3.9 overall GPA, 4.0 nursing science GPA, 97 overall HESI. I only have a little bit of healthcare experience from volunteering at Dell Children's for a semester. If I don't get in this round, I think I'll get my CNA from ACC, work for a year, and try again. Fingers crossed though!
