  1. Would you please share your experience with Eclipsys.....this would greatly help us with our selection of a vendor. What didn't you like about the system? Are you able to share vendor support/training also? Thank you.
  2. Thank you all for your responses! We have narrowed down our search to 2 vendors.....Cerner & Eclipsys. I have been doing work with our project manager assigned to Phase 1 of this enormous project, and would like to know more about client education involving the vendor and the staff education department at your facilities. If anyone has worked with implementation and how either one of these vendors approached training at your facilities, I would appreciate hearing about it. I am interested in finding out how they worked with your facility's education department, what staff-development educators were involved (nurse/medical informatics specialists, RN educators, etc.), how many staff were trained at a time, in what order did the vendor approach training, did the vendor do complete on-site training or did they suggest off-site as well, were application analysts sent on-site to train, etc. Whatever info you can share would be helpful. Thank you! Teri
  3. Hi..........we are now in the discovery phase of deciding which of these three vendors to choose for an integrated system for our large healthcare organization. I would appreciate hearing from any nurses out there who can share their experiences with the above named vendors. I did post a similar post not too long ago, but I am still collecting comments on this. Since we have narrowed it down to these 3 vendors, and we need to decide within the next few months, any comments will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.............Teri
  4. Our organization is in the process of choosing a clinical documentation system, and I recently attended demos by Cerner and Eclipsys. I must say I love both of them, but Eclipsys seems to be more user-friendly and I like the windows-based appearance. We have to make a decision soon on which system to choose. I would like to ask people to reply on what they see are the strengths and weaknesses of both of these systems? I have summaries that our project manager complied from evaluations handed in by attendees of both demos, but I would also like to hear from those of you who have worked with these systems. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.......Supermom2
  5. I completed the Excelsior program online and earned my MS in clinical systems management/nursing informatics. I found the program very good, convenient, and the instructors were extremely helpful. Supermom
  6. Well that makes two of us, as I too start my new position tomorrow as clinical systems analyst. Having been in hospital nursing for 28 years, I am ready for the challenge! I take with me those many years of clinical experience, plus some computer knowledge, and am ready to apply it in my new career. I wish you the best of luck in your new career too..........
  7. Thank you Mariah for the advice. I will be working for an IT company affiliated with the hospital I was working at for many years. I start in one week, and they did mention sending me for training with vendor companies i.e. Cerner, Siemens, etc. I am a little nervous as I have never worked outside of the hospital setting, so I am going in with just many years of clinical knowledge and computer experience to carry me through. The rest will all be learning on the job. Looking forward to this new chapter in my nursing career! Thanks..........
  8. Thank you so much for responding. I will keep that seminar in mind for Feb if this company will allow me to go. They already have me going to various training sessions with various vendors. Thanks again.........
  9. Hi.........I am a recent graduate of a MS program in Clinical Systems Management/Nursing Informatics. I have been working in hospital nursing for 28 years, and am about to take on a new position as a nurse analyst for a healthcare information technology corporation, affiliated with the hospital I work at. Any advice on how I can make this transition without any anxiety? I am computer literate, and have worked with our hospital information system quite well while in my current staff nurse position. I have read the other threads here from informatics nurses and how they got started in the field..........any advice? Thank you......Supermom 2
