  1. Hi SuperSleeper Just wanted to say thank you and it is nice to meet someone with a similar experience....and know that if I chose to bring up Hunter it wont destroy my chances....breaks my heart I have to think in those terms. Guess I was confused after reading all these posts.
  2. Need advise about a personal topic. I had a son born with a heart defect that died waiting for a heart transplant 9 years ago. Prior to that I was going to be a veterinarian. It was because of my experience in the NICU that I went into nursing after his death. I have noticed in a lot of posts to stay AWAY from personal stuff in the interview....however he is the whole reason I am in nursing and it also explains why I have such heavy sciences with many animal science courses....my anatomy and phy was not on humans....it was on domestic animals. So how should I approach the interview?? I have worked in the NICU for 6 years with ECMO and heart transplant and currently I am a flight nurse. Any info would greatly be appreciated.
  3. Trying to do that very thing right now....I have 6 yr NICU exp. with ECMO, cardiac transplant qualifications, and the last two years I have done critical care transport for kids and infants where I intubate, place umbilical lines, needle chests and place IO's. I was told at my counceling session for Kaiser that I was weak in adult exp. So I just got a job in the adult ICU just in case as PRN. I asked during the session if I should wait a year before I applied and they told me absolutely not! So not sure if you can get away with it at Kaiser but maybe else where.
  4. Hello This is my first year to apply and I only applied at Kaiser. After reading some of the posts...little nervous about how some of the people were denied entrance...especially the ones with high GPA and experience....do have to be perfect to get in??? I have 6 years NICU with ECMO and cardiac transplant qualifications and two years critical care tranport that I had intubation, IO placement and chest needling experience....GPA is 3.8 with tons of extra science classes like vert zoo, genetics, all the chem..ochem..bio chem...(I was going to be a vet)....so not sure what it is they are looking for..hmmmm My question was if anyone knows if it makes a difference if you get your interview letter early or late....it seems that some get a interview letter as early as beginning of Jan.....just curious and nervous.......its my first rodeo here.:wink2:
