  1. Quick question ya'll. (totally off topic). Was it rude to email another advisor because I felt like the previous one didn't fully answer my question? I went to Brookhaven and spoke with the female nursing advisor. I asked her this 1 question twice and still felt confused about the answer. She was really nice and helpful though on other subjects, basically reiterated what I already knew. Then a week later I decided to email the guy nursing advisor and his email seemed really rude. Basically saying you were here a week ago and I'm sure she covered everything for you!.... I hate feeling like I did something wrong. I mean was it wrong? I have to really get out of being so sensitive, I mean I'm going into nursing for good sakes. It just makes me not want to bother anybody else, or ask them anymore questions because they feel like they've answered them all in that one visit. Thanks guys.
  2. Thanks a bunch. I appreciate it. I will wait to take algebra some other time, because I want to do good in it. Hope you're feeling okay :}
  3. I am really sorry to hear you are going through this. I can only imagine how difficult this has been for you and your kids. May I ask what happened, or why did you say it was your fault? You are right, when things do get tough, you don't walk out. The blessing in disguise is that if you decide to wait, you will have completed all the necessary classes required and then some, with a better grade in a&p. It is going to be rough in the beginning, but it's def. okay to cry. We have minor setbacks and sometimes we ask why, but when one door closes another is opening. Very cliché, but I do believe everything we go through is to teach us something and build our character. This is very sad because I don't like hearing others go through hardship, because I know how it feels. I especially hate hearing you go through it because I swear I think highly of you, because I know you've worked so hard. I barely know you, but just your demeanor online and how helpful you've been, and your hard work. I am confident that you will come back with the same dedication and get into the nursing program. Just right now, you need time to gather yourself emotionally and mentally, and tend to your family. Everything will be okay. If you still have my email, feel free to contact me. I'm married too and we might share similar views on things and might can share advice.
  4. I need suggestions. To apply on time, I need these classes : Patho, pharm, Chem, 2 Texas Tech courses and that's it. I also want to apply to Mountain Vew college and need only patho, pharm, and algebra. I don't see myself finishing the requirements for Brookhaven in time, but I do for mountain view. I really don't know how to pick my classes to be able to apply for Fall 2020. I was thinking chemistry, patho, then maybe algebra for fall semester. Then in spring 2020, take pharm, and the 2 Texas Tech courses. Has anybody taken a math and two science classes together? Will patho, Chem, and algebra be too much together? Thanks.
  5. I was also wondering how do we sign up for critical thinking exam? I thought it was a part of the hesi exam and I probably skipped it when I took it last month. I'm not sure.
  6. Hey, welcome to the chat. From my knowledge you need to make sure you are up to date on: MMR, hep. B, TB, varicella, Meningitis ACYW, TDAP, and flu. I went to Brookhaven and the nurse let me know what all I needed done. As for the hesi, you can take the hesi 1 time an application period. You can take one now then after Aug. Or Sept. (the end of the application period for Spring 2020), you can take it again. I hope that helps. ?
  7. Yes I did. Thank you so much. I noticed the requirement for TT is that you need to have 44 credit hours to apply. I just need 3 more classes to be able to apply to Texas Tech
  8. For some reason reason it won't allow me to make you. I will probably have to go on my laptop. Are those classes still worth points toward admission?
  9. Hey guys, so I'm thinking of applying to Brookhaven too, but don't know much about the TT courses. Could any of you send a link? Thanks a bunch
  10. How long did it take you to become a PCT, and where did you go to school for it?...
  11. Seriously, thank you so much for gently responding to me. I honestly felt bad about typing this. I felt like I was whining and wanted to delete it, but couldn't. You made me feel so much better. You are absolutely right. ? I was thinking about taking up a class over that time as a PCT or something to get me some experience. Everything you said truly confirmed what was in my heart, I was being too stubborn to listen. I'm going to take my time. That way I can prioritize my school work, get my sanity back and learn some patience in the mean time ❤️☺️. When the time comes I'll know and I'll truly be ready. Yes, I saw El Centros pass rate, it's at a 84-87% I believe and the dean, from what I hear was not so nice. Mountain view and a couple of other far colleges were at a pass rate of 100. I'll Def. Look into other colleges as well. Thank you again so much Jaye Seals❤️??. You guys have so much too prepare for and I wish you all well on your journeys. ?
  12. Hey everyone, I took the hesi today for the first time. I made an 84 on practically everything. The math was so time consuming I began to get flushed and annoyed. I actually did it first but I may do it last next time; I'm not sure. I felt like I was rushing the rest. Finished at 12. I didn't really study consistently. I reviewed over the questions from the hesi Facebook group. I recognized a lot of questions. I know if I really study, my next go round I'm acing it. Also guys what do ya'll think. I feel I have so much to do in so little time; I'm losing hope of applying for. Feb. deadline in 2020. It sucks though for me since they added extra classes from Texas tech to the ranking {only because I don't have any experience in Healthcare nor enrolled in the dual program yet to be competitive} . I'm thinking of just waiting till September 2020 deadline to apply officially since I still have [phed, hist. 2, gov. 1&2, stats, eng. 2] to go. That would give me another WHOLE Year to get myself together. ? Those classes really don't count toward ranking, but it helps to have them finished. After December of this year I will be finished with all pre-req. and if I'm on top of vaccines, critical thinking, dosage calculations, and retake the hesi, I can apply. But will I be competitive enough. I know it's all about how I feel in my heart and my motivation to push myself. But getting a second opinion never hurted anybody. Sorry ya'll for the long rant. ☺️
  13. Nooooo, it's not long at all, I love this information!!!! I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. For 10 dollars, that's not bad. I am definitely going to check them out. Was Chem. 1405 really that hard? I am taking it this fall along with Patho and I am so nervous. Wow, 5 classes in 1 semester doesn't sound fun. :D. But hey you did what you had to do, I might have to do the same. Usually, I take 2 classes a semester, along with some flex. I may be able to add in another if it's not so demanding. For the points, I noticed that the hesi gives you the most. I am taking it this Friday actually as a practice one ( I am not too confident at the moment). Then after Septembers application period I am going to take it again. Hopefully, it does not count as me taking it twice an application period, since I am taking one before September then another one after. I was also reading what you guys put regarding the dual program at TT. I am going to look into that too. Honestly, thank you soooo much for freely sharing. :D
  14. Hello everyone, I am pretty new to all of this and I have a lot of questions. I plan on applying to the Brookhaven Fall 2020 period and I have a few more things I need to do (vaccinations, hesi, dosage calculation. The only pre-reqs. I have left are Patho, Chem, and Pharm. I still have 9 more core classes left (which my advisor made it seem like I needed to finish majority of them prior to the nursing program, like History, Gov., Stats, Phed.) Did you guys finish all of your core classes yet, and if not do you plan to cram them during the nursing program itself? Also, do you guys know of any places in Dallas where I can get my shots done for a reasonable price. I need all of them accept MMR, and I know one of them you have to space out between the set. Thanks guys. I can't wait to catch up to you all and go through this process together.
