  1. Im strongly considering a night shift hospital position. Ive been wanting to give the hospital another try over the past few years, but having the same “9-5” schedule as my partner has kept me from trying it. We dont have kids yet. But my partner is worried that working night shift would affect our relationship. If you work nights, do you find the different schedules affect your relationship? How do you make it work?
  2. I left working on a Med Surg floor pretty early in my nursing career. Ive since spent several years working in the outpatient setting - family practice and later a public health clinic. Im in not completely sure what I want to do with my career. Im working on a masters degree that is health related and not sure if i will stay in nursing or leave for a non-clinical job once finished with my degree. I have at least one year of my masters degree program left. Im really bored at my current outpatient job and know it is not the job for me. I really have an itch to give the hospital a try again, but then I read all these posts online that make the bedside sound horrible. The bedside appeals to me because I would have 4 off days to do my school work. Working a 9-5 makes it hard to have dedicated school work time except for the weekends. I would also like to be busy all the time, rather than bored - but many nurses online sound overwhelmed at the bedside. I see all these posts of nurses trying to leave the bedside for a job like mine. I know the grass is always greener...but is the hospital really that bad? Is it worth it to go back? Has anyone left and returned?
