  1. I am a registered nurse living in the state of Oklahoma. I graduated from the Peer Assistance Program over a year ago. I am applying for a Texas RN license for a future job. I have multiple criminal charges from when I was 19 years old, but I also answered "yes" to the question regarding being treated for addiction within the last 5 years. Can anyone provide me some insight as to what it might look like now that I've answered yes to that question? I'm less concerned about the criminal charges as I went through the process of gathering all the court documents when I was initially licensed in Oklahoma. I'm more concerned about the fact that I answered yes to their addiction treatment question. Any insight?
  2. Took me about 5 months to find a job. Originally landed a job at Cedar Ridge pretty quickly but ultimately wasn’t hired because of some very old criminal charges (because their process goes through DHS because of work with children). I work at OU Medical Center now. I believe Integris also hires Peer nurses. There are a lot more jobs out there than you might think. Lots of Peer nurses working in dialysis too.
  3. I've been in OK's PAP since June 2019. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
  4. Thank you for your support. What ended up happening with school for you? Were you able to finish?
  5. Hi everyone. I was reported by another RN at work for suspicious behavior, was approached on the job, and admitted to stealing medications for personal (IV) use. I just signed my termination paperwork and was told to report to the BON. I have a history of addiction and have been to inpatient treatment before but this is the first time I've ever been fired from a job. I know my next step is to self-report and inquire about the Peer Assistance program (I'm in Oklahoma). I guess more than anything I'm just looking for support and guidance. I feel totally hopeless right now and can't stop wondering how I'm going to pay my bills and what I'm going to do for a job. I'm also two semesters away from graduating from NP school so I'm assuming I won't be able to continue because of clinicals. I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to begin. Does anyone have suggestions for finding a job? I don't really know how to approach the whole having a bachelor's degree but not working as an RN thing. Any information regarding Peer Assistance in Oklahoma? Thanks
