Hi I could use some advice on 2 hospitals I applied to. Im a relatively new to practice nurse. I’ve been working at a small hospital in NJ for about 8 months on night shift. I love the people I work with and my assist night nurse manager but Im thinking about my career and applied to 2 hospitals that are apart of a much larger health system in the area that offers better tuition benefits than the hospital Im at now. I had two interviews I thought both of them went well. Thing is one hospital (I’ll call it Hospital A) called me the day after the interview and already offered me a job. As exciting as it is Im a little worried about working at that particular hospital. Hospital A is one of the busiest hospitals in the area. I’ve heard a lot of nurses have left because of constant 6:1 ratios and they have a policy were ED patient can be dropped off on the floor without the ED nurse giving report to the floor nurse. Now Hospital B hasn’t said yes or no whether they will offer me a job. But I have not heard the same issues being associated with the hospital. Hospital B is honestly where I have wanted to be for a long time. However, I don’t want to jeopardize getting into the health system just to maybe possible get into Hospital B. I asked HR about hospital B and they said they haven’t heard from that hospital yet and said they would tell Hospital A that I am thinking about the position. Should I just go with Hospital A and maybe try to transfer later? Or wait on Hospital B possibly jeopardizing my offer with Hospital A? Or do neither and just stick with where I am? I know this is a long post any thoughts would help ?

Update I recently accepted a position to the hospital I work at. I called the recruiter and she said she had a position to offer me. I could tell the recruiter was backed up with other work. I plan to send her a card for her trouble. I was kinda worried I'd never get a job because a lotta people I graduated with have jobs now. But I guess going slower isn't a bad thing. I appreciate the advice and the tough love.

I am having a issues finding a job and its becoming frustrating. I graduated from an 2nd degree accelerated nursing program this May and passed my NCLEX late July. I have been looking for a job ever since passing. I have been working at a hospital for 2 and a half years as a Registrar. I have applied to 5 local hospital systems (about 11 hospitals) and I have had very little luck. I have even interviewed about 5 times but still nothing. 2 of the interviews felt like they weren't looking at me seriously (one only asked me 1 question in the interview, the other asked me weird non nursing related questions like "What do I like to do in my spare time",). I even interviewed with a nursing residency but didn't get it. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. One of the non serious interviews was even with the hospital I work with. I've reheorificed interview questions multiple times and have updated my resume several times. I am not picky with the jobs I've been applying to either. Applying to day and night; ER, critical care, telemetry I no longer care. I am debating on applying to outpatient jobs but am anxious. I eventually want to become a Nurse Practitioner and am worried that going outpatient know will hurt my chances of getting into a hospital later. Should I keep trying the hospitals or go outpatient? Am I being impatient about the whole thing or am I right? Any general tips and tricks will help.

So, I am currently in an accelerated BSN program after getting another bachelor's degree in Biology and I am looking into Nurse Anesthetist programs in my area. A lot of schools state that you must have at least a 3.0 GPA in general science coursework. But not many of the schools actually state what general science coursework that want? Do they mean general Bio and General Chem? What about classes like Physics, Organic Chem, or even Statistics? A & P? Any information you guys have will be a big help to me!
