UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
So glad to hear it! I am nearing the end of my orientation period and have switched to night shifts, which takes some adjustment, but the staff in the Banner Healthcare system have been nothing short of awesome! Great luck in your future!

UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
You got this! I was down too and my wife was beginning to think that my education was a complete waste of time, which didn't help. Someone here on allnurses said a simple thing that changed everything: You don't get 100% of the jobs you don't apply for.

UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Sehnsucht, I realized later that I misspoke about the pay. It turns out that their initial pay is $29 an hour without any differentials. Many of those I graduated with in May have taken up work with Christus and feel supported and content with not only the environment, but also the their residency program. I should have posted my findings. I think if you feel that you should move to Santa Fe, Christus would be a great place to start. I guess I should also add that I have found work in Fort Collins, CO since my initial post and found my first job, which includes a residency program, by applying for a job that required experience, of which I had none. I am week two into it and the healthcare organization is delivering on all their promises.

New Graduate
Hey all, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted a response to my questions. I landed my first job with Banner Health and am a proud member of the resource team! I applied for every job I came across and eventually someone reached out to me. Thanks again!

New Graduate
Good morning, good nurses! I am writing this morning for a little direction. I recently graduated in May and interviewed here in Colorado for the nurse residency program with UC Health, but was not accepted. I know it is a competitive program, but I graduated with a Bachelor's degree and a 4.0 and passed the NCLEX on the first try and was a little surprised. That stated, I am now in the process of re-applying for the fall cohort but my wife is getting a little anxious about the job situation and is having me look into other avenues, which I am willing to do (Here Here to all those supportive spouses that helped us get through nursing school!). As I am looking at alternatives, all the RN positions I am coming across require previous experience, but as a new graduate I obviously do not have any and thus is my conundrum. Long story long, I guess my question is how do I get that first job with no experience? Thank you in advance for any advice and direction

UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Christus St Vincent. Presbyterian is setting up shop, but will take a year or two before they are financially stable with their new facility to actually be competition. Santa Fe is a great place to live and be a nurse with experience. There are other opportunities. My friend got a job at a clinic after graduation and she is making $50,000 without experience.

Santa Fe, NM or like many of us call it Fanta Se (Fantasy). Again, monopoly hospital been the only game in town for a long time and they know it.

UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
This is for the first year. I think they don't through out an hourly rate because the number would be so ridiculously low that all the students would have stopped listening to the pitch.

As the hospital in the town I live in pretty much has a monopoly, I think that is why they think they can get away with cheap labor from nurse residents. I was surprised when they told my cohort that number.

UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
The pay for the first year is $30,000 as a nurse resident, which includes orientation, preceptorship, education, and seminars before residents are assigned patients on their own.

Klone, Thanks for the response. The residency program in my area offers $30,000. Would you say that is pretty comparable to UCH or other residency programs?

UC HEALTH NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Hey all, This is my first post. I am 8 weeks away from graduating with my BSN and am about to apply to nurse residency programs. I am thinking about moving to Colorado with my family, but my wife is concerned about the increased cost of living. That said, has anyone gone through the UC Health Nurse Residency program and if so, what was the pay? Also, is there a better program in Colorado? I am looking to relocate to Fort Collins or Denver. Thank you in advance for any and all help! Juhn
