Wow! BORN spends only one day each month reviewing all BORN cases. Caseworker should be able to at least give a timeline. Wonder who came up with this humiliating process and how many nurses actually have not been approved.

Hi, When dealing with BORN? You should have been assigned an investigator/caseworker. I had my investigators' email and was able to communicate directly with them. Did you ever receive a letter?

What do they say when you call/email them? You should have a case manager?

Hi, Don't give up. Reach out to them until you hear from someone.. I spent months waiting and crying.. -also on EBT! I had to tell my professors and former co-workers that I was a DV victim and this whole process was traumatizing and embarassing for me.

I hired an atty and paid a fortune and it made no difference. There is a nursing shortage and BORN is an outdated mess.

I agree with Shauna. It is an embarrassing and humiliating process. I was traumatized and a DV victim. I had to re-live it many times .. writing the letter describing what happened in detail. It was emotionally devastating to dredge it up. Not to mention getting letters from former co-workers and professors and having to also explain I was a victim of DV to them. Meanwhile, abusers of all kinds are getting licensed daily. I graduated May of 21 and did not get ATT until Jan/22!!

Tinytoast, The BORN sees EVERYTHING from CPS. As a DV victim, it was excrutiatingly painful to have to re-live the worse moments of my life and defend myself as a victim over and over during this process. You also have to put everything in your own words. It took about 7 months in height of Covid (not sure how long it is now) for BORN to read my statement along with the letters of recommendation that I also had to humiliate myself by telling my painful past to professors and former co-workers to get. It is a horrific way to victim shame. Meanwhile, all kinds of unstable nurses walk right through to the ATT. It's a crappy system they have going on at the MA BORN.

Is that new? Because my case was over five years ago and I had to go before the board....

Hi, It took me forever to get approved just for ATT. It took 3 months just to be told I was under review and another 6 months to get ATT. Just send in all the info they request- they asked me to write everything that happened and to send in references. It's a ridiculous process of victim shaming!

It sounds like you are close. I doubt an atty would be of any use to you at this point.

I went before BORN today. I waited over 4 hours in the zoom "waiting room." It took less than 2 minutes and they all voted aye. They asked me no questions, said good luck and that was it!

Hi Everyone, I rec'd notice today that my case will be heard this month (next week), and I have my instructions on how to sign in to the meeting either via Zoom or by phone. I can only assume this is because my case was considered "complete" during the transition to the "new process."

Niyelie, You had same coordinator as me. Did you ask him how long the "new process" takes? I wonder if they did that because these cases are backing up? I don't know how to give my email privately on here? Do you?

Niyelie? What is the new process? What is new about it? Do we still go before BORN? Or are we approved by a coordinator? I have been waiting 5 months and my coordinator has not reached out to me or responded to my atty. My atty says they do not know what will be needed in my case.. bec my case was complete and ready to go.

I do not know what they need yet. I believe they did CORI when I registered to test? I do not have a criminal record. My coordinator had my case complete, ready to go. Now they have changed the way the DCF cases are handled, so my case is off to someone who doesn't respond to my atty. My atty has no further info on my case until the GMC coordinator responds. For all I know? My case has been put at the bottom of the pile during transition? I have no clue what the changes are that have been put into place and neither does my atty. It is disheartening to learn that I came thisclose a few weeks ago to having my case heard.. to now being flashbacked to July.. not knowing a thing about when or how my case will be heard. I applied to test 5 months ago (first week of June). My case was assigned at the end of July. It has just been non-stop delays. I wish I knew what the changes are in the new process. I find it a little strange that they have a new process and nobody knows what it is. 5 months of waiting and back to not knowing a thing. I am pretty sad today. Niyelie? Did you get a letter in the mail? I did not. Can you share what the new process is and what exactly the letter says? Is this what you meant when you said they requested CORI? Didn't you sign for CORI when you registered to test?

Hi everyone, I have just been informed that the BORN has changed the way they are dealing with these cases. I was supposed to be heard Oct 13, and it was canceled, my case has been re-assigned to a "GMC" coordinator. I have no further info on how or when my case will be looked at. My previous caseworker at BORN stated my case was complete.. now I once again am in the dark about when or what is going on. UGH. :(

Hi Nyelie, I did not have to do a CORI that I know of. I do not have a criminal record. I had to provide reference letters. I had to write a letter as to what happened. I do not think you should give up. People make mistakes in life.

Hi, I am still waiting. BORN is overwhelmed with cases. I don't have a date either as my Oct date was cancelled. I spent a day crying over it being cancelled. No job.. no income. Just waiting.

Hi, I understand! My date was scheduled for next week and was canceled due to BORN being so backed up. I feel like I am being punished for being abused. Broke. No job. Just waiting and waiting.. my study resources are now expired... hang in there! I wish that there was a more private way for us to talk.

Can you tell me when you applied again? Also, was it Zoom? Congratulations and good luck!
