I am looking to do per diem work in a NYC public school and then eventually work as a full-time school nurse hopefully in the next year or 2 to come. I know the process of becoming full-time (job fair and taking the city test) but I am wondering how to do per-diem work. Does anyone have experience with that and how did you go about doing it? Was it through the DOH or an agency? Did you like your agency and what was the pay like? How often did you work and was it mostly 1:1 cases or in the office? Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi.. I know this is an old post but I saw a few people commented that they worked through an agency as an RN in the NYC public schools. I was looking to do per diem work in the schools for now while I have small children at home, and then eventually work as a full-time school nurse. I know they have a job fair coming up and the test is being offered but I am wondering if that is only for full-time positions? If you did agency work...how did you go about doing that? Did you like your agency and what was the pay like? Thanks!
