  1. No you don’t. But it helps to have them done early. There will be a specific date where you must have everything uploaded to Castlebranch. It will be explained during orientation. Right now you don’t really need to study LOL. If you want to study, you can for medical terminology. I also have the book, if anyone is interested in buying it from me. You primarily just use the flash cards at the end. Studying is different for everyone! Take good notes, make flash cards, re-read things you are confused about, look over important concepts, bolded words, charts & diagrams, practice your skills consistently, highlight in the e-books, take practice quizzes, etc. It will be different for you as well. Once you get the hang of the routine, you’ll develop your own study habits.
  2. This was last semester, so I’m pretty sure the books should be the same.
  3. For first semester, you will primarily be using CoursePoint+, which is an online platform with its own access code that you will have to purchase. It is quite expensive. I remember paying at least $600 for the e-books/access code. I spent over $1,000 total for books, supplies, uniform, fees, Castlebranch, etc. on the first semester alone. They will go over more information about books during orientation. The only books I rented were the Nursing Research (9th edition), Med-Math (9th edition), APA 7th edition Manual (spiral version), and the Fundamentals Skills Checklist (9th edition), which you could also just print online when you purchase the access code, but it’s better to have the book. Also, I wouldn’t rent the checklist because you’ll need to write in it, so I’d buy it or print the pages and keep them together because you’ll need them in the end.
  4. If you login into your stan state portal and go to your student center, you can search for the class listings for Fall 2020. You should be able to see it as well. Current stan state students who already received their enrollment date/time can register for classes. If you're a new transfer student, it will not let you do so yet. However, don't worry, the nursing department will instruct you when you can register. I would send them an email and ask as well for clarification. You will need all black leather shoes (Dansko ones are great in my opinion), a stethoscope, and a watch with a second hand. They will send this information through mail as well. I am already a stan state student and was accepted to this nursing program so that is how I know aha.
  5. I believe your classes will most likely be held in person. If you look at the schedule for Fall 2020, they do not say “fully online”. It is advised not to work while in nursing school because it will be very time consuming. However, people do work part-time (night shifts for example) and others on-call. It depends on you and how much you can personally handle. These are the classes you’ll be registering for as well as the days/times. You’ll be enrolling in health assessment, foundations of clinical nursing practice, and introduction to nursing research. You can pick one of either of the labs listed for your first two classes, depending how you want to set up your schedule. Also, you will be required to do 6 hours outside of this every week in the skills labs. You won’t begin clinical officially until second semester, but at the very end of first semester, you do get an introduction to clinicals and each get your own placement within a hospital.
  6. If anyone is interested in living at the Vista starting in Fall, please text me (209) 954-2259. I am looking for someone to take over my lease.
  7. The place itself is great! The apartments are nice, and I enjoy the fact that is right across from campus so I can just walk instead of buying the school's parking permit. They also offer free parking and free printing. A major perk is that all utilities are included within the price and you can have your own private room with your own bathroom. They also offer your own washing machine/dryer within the unit. The management I do not particularly like, but that is its own story. The nursing program will send you an intent to enroll form, you sign it and email it back to the department to say whether or not you accept or decline your spot. My tips would be to get your health requirements done early, focus on getting settled in, and be ready to work hard because it will be very fast-paced and there is a lot to do! Also, brush up on medical terminology because there will be a test on it within the first couple of weeks. Practice vital signs, if you want a head start.
  8. If you know anyone else planning to lease at the Vista, tell them not to sign with them directly! There are lots of people who actually need our leases to be taken over because otherwise, we have to end up paying an entire year until we find a new resident.
  9. Hi guys! For those of you planning to live near the campus, I have a lease for the Vista starting in August (right across the street from Stan) and I really need someone to take it over for me. Many of the nursing students at Stan who do not commute or live at home, live at the Vista. I know a fair amount of people in the Spring 2020 cohort who lived at the Vista rather than on-campus housing and actually prefer it more. If you are interested, feel free to text me at 209-954-2259. You can be a male or female resident, it does not matter!
  10. I will be declining my spot. I got accepted into CSU Stanislaus’ nursing program instead and it is much cheaper for me so I will be going there! Good luck everyone :)
  11. They usually send an email letting you know your application status portal has been updated, then they send a letter in the mail as well. I just got an email saying they’ll let us know next week probably by Friday.
  12. no, they might tell later. Couple of weeks
  13. I am going to live at The Vista, but the only way you could get a room is if you take over someone's lease since their leases start in August.
  14. I turned down my spot so that's one more spot opened ?
