  1. Hey all! I am a NICU nurse and looking to move to the Denver area of Colorado from Southern California next Summer 2024! I am wondering if anyone has done the same and/or what I should know when continuing a nursing career in Colorado that may be different form California (I.e. patient ratios, salary, taxes, good/bad hospitals, traffic, weather issues etc) And advice is appreciated, thanks!!
  2. I didn't have any prior NICU experience or certification, but I was a veterinary nurse before switching to the human side. I'm guessing they just like my cover letter and letter of rec along with the interview. Maybe just revamp your application documents and make any prior experiences sound transferable and applicable to NICU nursing. This round of new grad competition was fierce, so don't get discouraged!
  3. I also received an offer for NICU!! I accepted it as it was my only offer?
  4. Hey! I interviewed for NICU on the 11th and said I would hear back around the end of the month. Has anyone gotten an offer or checked in to see when they might be calling?
  5. I know it’s been awhile but congrats to everyone! I was accepted to the San Diego campus and have not seen a facebook page for it yet so I created one! I have attached the link, feel free to join!! Can’t wait to start this journey and happy holidays to everyone! https://www.facebook.com/groups/390614748663170/?ref=share
  6. @Monique CNA when I applied again I was told that they don’t usually do a second interview so I was just expecting to wait until acceptance letters went out. But I was asked to interview a second time and was able to formulate good responses to their questions since I had already been asked them before. To be honest, the second time around was a lot more relaxed, almost as if they already knew they were going to accept me because the interviewer went off topic a lot and started just talking about life and asking me questions about my job etc and not nursing stuff LOL.
  7. @prenursepauline Those were the GPAs from my prereqs, which were probably almost the exact same as my cumulative from my bachelors.
  8. Hey guys! I applied for Summer 2021 but got accepted for fall 2021. It was my second time applying, feel free to ask any questions! Some stats about myself: I had a 3.5 non science GPA and a 3.2 science GPA, I’ve worked for 5 years as an emergency veterinary technician and volunteered in a nursing unit for 1 year. This just goes to show that grades don’t mean everything! They are definitely look for genuine, well rounded people. Good luck to everyone and I’m looking forward to our future cohort!
  9. Hi everyone! I got accepted to the San Diego campus for fall 2021!! I’d love to connect with anyone else in this cohort! My email is [email protected] and insta is @annkurachi Good luck to everyone!
  10. @Sieldani they strongly encourage you to finish the masters portion of the program. If you only want a BS I would look into ABSN programs so it’s leaves spots open for us who want to get a masters.
  11. @Sieldani you listed your school location preferences on the application and they asked me which school I preferred when I interviewed
  12. @EmsFutureRN Oh thank god!
  13. @EmsFutureRN CONGRATS!! Did you also receive the general email regarding starting new applications and Covid-19 we got a couple days ago? Just wondering if they only sent that out to people who didn’t get accepted to inform them on applying again.
  14. I did too. I hope that doesn’t mean with didn’t get accepted ?
  15. Sure! It was pretty mellow, just like a job interview. They asked the typical questions, why do you wana be a nurse, what are you best traits/qualities and goals, etc. but some questions I wasn’t expecting were, “have you ever be involved in an ethical situation and how did you react” And “how do you study and handle stress” so just be prepared for those kinds of questions. Then afterwards you just have to write a summary on a short simple nursing article. Hope this helps and best of luck!
