Hello, I can tell you that I looked at their program and was going to go through it. However, when I looked up their NCLEX passing percentage against Seminole State and Valencia, it wasn't worth it. Plus the cost was extremely high as they are private. Also, no one is a "shoe-in" for getting hired. I've talked with their nurses and it doesn't matter if you went to AH or anywhere else. What matters is if they like you and you know your stuff. When you are on the floor, they watch trust me. Hope this helps!

Hello, Considering the times we are in, and the shortage of PPE for nurses, nursing students are not in the hospitals right now. (our area) Also, for nursing one students, much of your clinical rotation will be in the nursing home and they closed to any student nurses as you can imagine. They are closed to everyone except absolutely needed staff. Therefore, nursing one will not occur over the Summer. So this pushes everyone back. If you apply in the Summer, my guess is that you will not get in until the following Summer. There area a lot of people ahead of you who just got pushed back to the fall and then others that applied that are already being pushed to the Spring. Hang in there!

Thanks! I wonder if their current nursing students will remain online throughout the Summer? I hate online and I'm not enjoying studying nursing this way. There is no hands on. I would much rather delay a semester than continue on like this.

Thanks for getting back with me. I've tried to find anything regarding this and I just can't. I think it's a good idea considering the hospitals will not be taking nursing students over the Summer and virtual labs/sims just aren't the same thing as hands on experience.

Everything in yellow you will need. You will also need the mental health book and the nursing pocket guide. At least we did for nursing one this past summer. Another book to get is Test Success Eighth Edition by Nugent and Vitale. This book was very helpful as well as the NCLEX-RN review book by Saunders. It has a Fundamentals section that is helpful. The dosage book is a must. Very helpful as this will be the only way to learn it. They don't teach it. Again, this was our experience. Hope this helps.

If you've applied and you weren't accepted and received the email stating that they didn't have room, you do not reapply. That could jeopardize your standing. Your email should have stated that you will be considered for the next semester. However, if you applied and have not gotten an email, I would email the nursing department advisor. Her name is Kate Martin and her email is [email protected]. You want to make sure they see you in the system.

I wish Valencia did their applications like Seminole State. Once the application dead line comes and goes, everyone knows their standing. But with Valencia there are so many more choices: day/night, West/Osceola and concurrent/traditional and how the person filled out their application- which campus they preferred etc... So you really won't be able to figure out how one person got in over another. Plus, they give room for current students to re-sequence the following semester if approved, not to mention those who might be re-sequencing from two semesters back. Don't loose heart. Your time will come!!

I would imagine you could get it anywhere. If you go to the bookstore and take a look at it then search elsewhere you might be better off. Or you can look at it online if the West campus bookstore is too far. Good luck!

Hello everyone! I am currently in the nursing program. Let me give you some advice that I wished was given to me while you are waiting to get in. Get the dosage book now and start practicing. This will not be taught at all, and you need to have a firm grasp on dosage calculations as well as all of the abbreviations. There are review classes put on by the student nurses but not by faculty. This is essential and I can't stress it enough. Once you get into the program, it will feel like you are drinking from a fire hydrant. Not trying to scare you, but if someone had told me this while I was waiting, I would've gotten started on it asap so I didn't have to mess with it while trying to get through the other info we have. Book: Dimensional Analysis at the West Campus bookstore. Doesn't matter what edition it's the same material. You have to show your work on the tests and this method is really very simple and doable. Jenna, The nursing students register April 8 at 3 PM. Your registration ticket says April 3 because that’s when registration opens for Valencia students as a whole. I just spoke with Kate regarding this.

As most have stated, go ahead and apply once you are ready. It's first come first serve. You will receive the letter stating that the Health Science Department has received your application email soon after your application has been received and payment has been posted to your account, which can take one or two days. However, you won't hear anything about acceptance until 6-8 weeks after the May 15th date. Good luck!

Yep. Got mine too. We only have until Thursday to be accepted if a seat becomes available. I figured this would be the case as so many people were pushed to summer from spring. We should be in for the fall.

Here's some good news...We will know for sure one way or the other by Thursday if we are going to be in the nursing program this summer. Here's to all of us waiting to hear. Let's trust that what happens was meant to be and make the best of it! Remember, if it's not this summer, than I'm sure it's the fall. Good luck to you all!

I applied Dec 17th and payment was posted the 19th. I have a friend who applied later by a couple of days and she was accepted into the evening program for summer. I was told by the nursing department that days are the most requested. So likely I will be waitlisted.

When I went to the nursing office in the month of December, before the term ended, the gentleman in the office said the summer was almost completely full for days-West campus. He said I would most likely be waitlisted. So I would assume that those of us who applied from about June to July on, are getting waitlisted to fall. I’m speaking for days, west campus only.

Have you heard anything yet? I would think you should be one of the first ones to be selected since it's been so long.
