  1. I was at my previous job for 6 months and besides giving my 2 weeks notice I didn't bother telling any of my co-workers that I was leaving. I wasn't close with any of them and I wasn't there that long so I figured no one would care.
  2. Hello Everyone, I’m a new RN. I’ve been working in the hospital setting for 10 months and I’m starting to think it’s not for me. I find it really stressful, and although I get 4 days off during the week I don’t like the long hours. Lately I’ve been thinking about making the transition to an outpatient facility or some type of medical office. So far I’ve thought about mental facilities, Pediatrics office, or the health department. Has anyone moved from the hospital setting to a medical office, if so how was your experience? Did you like it better? What are the pros and cons? What if I later decide to get back into the hospital setting, would that be hard for me to do?
  3. Hello Everyone, At the end of August I started my first RN job on a dialysis unit. Dialysis was never a specialty I thought about or wanted to do, but I didn't mind learning about it. At first, I was fine but as I continue to work on the unit I'm starting to dislike it more and more. I have absolutely no interest in furthering my knowledge on dialysis anymore. I still feel like I'm extremely slow and having a hard time keeping up and finding interest in this specialty. My unit is already short staffed, so having more patients to manage during change over is a little difficult for me. Recently a co-worker has told me that our unit has a really high turn over rate, she's only been there for a year and is looking for another job. I work 12-hour shifts and as soon as I get there I'm ready to go home. I worked really hard to become a nurse and I want to enjoy what I do, but I don't feel that way right now. Whenever people ask me how I like the unit I work on I always say it's ok. I didn't want to give up so soon but it's been 2 months and I know this isn't something I want to continue to do. I don't want to waste my time or my preceptor's time, but I don't know what to do. Has anyone else not like his or her first job as a nurse? If so, what did you do?
