  1. If you are on STRAP, are you still eligible for MGIB-SR (1606)?
  2. Does anyone know if you can use the remaining Montgomery (1606) benefits from your first service contract while in STRAP? Mainly, my school refuses to give me in-state tuition rate because I don’t fall under Mont/Post911 while using STRAP. It's been frustrating as no one really knows anything about this program.
  3. I was selected for STRAP Nov 2021... I am still waiting secdef approval and commissioning. It is a huge headache tbh. I am at the point where I wish I would have just gone 66S.
  4. HamRN_13, I got positive results from my recruiter on 11/24. This was for reserves.
  5. Could you please give some more detail regarding HPLR while in school for the reserves? My recruiter, like yours, said that its only for loans taken out prior to signing contracts... which would be useless in my scenario as I have paid my bachelors off. So all of my loans will be taken out in the future for CRNA school (aka after signing for STRAP).
  6. Thanks for the response. I am going to apply for STRAP as my first option. Besides your unit director, who does the board want to see letters of recommendation from? I have an ANCC/Charge and a CRNA in the Navy reserves. The reason I ask, I did not get selected for 66S last year - possibly because I only had 1 year ICU experience and no ccrn at the time. I assume the STRAP board is going to be looking for the same things.
  7. Hey HamRN_13 and others! I will be applying FY22 as well. Has your recruiter told you applications are due ~Oct, board meets Nov, and decisions come out before Christmas? Did your recruiter also give you possibly the ugliest resume format to use? Any clue how many people apply / get selected? I am strongly leaning towards STRAP as opposed to 66S->66F.
  8. I am trying to weigh my options. I am prior service and currently a critical care RN and I have been accepted into a CRNA program in May 2022. My recruiter told me I can apply for 66S or STRAP, not both at the same time. Assuming you get selected for everything and can handle the workload of drill and school, would it make more sense to be a 66S (Crit Care RN) at the now at the start/during your time in school and then become a 66F (CRNA) after school... instead of using STRAP while in school and going straight into 66F? Is there anything missing in my logic below? With STRAP you'd get roughly a total of $83K in stipends (2,330 x 36) and $60K HPLR, then NOT be eligible for any retention bonuses during your required 6 years of service... For a total of $143K (83+60) While, if you become a 66S, you'd be eligible for $60K in retention bonuses ($20K/year for the first 3 years) then after graduation and becoming 66F $75K in retention bonuses ($25K/year for 3 years), and you still get HPLR of $60K... For a total of $195K (60+75+60) Thank you guys for your time.
  9. I will be submitting a STRAP application this October and have a few questions. I am prior service, so I understand the army does everything possible not to pay you. If I use strap for 3 years and incur the 6 year reserve requirement, during those 6 years, am I eligible for the yearly retention bonus of ~$25K?
  10. Nono and Gasworks, Can you please pm me as well, the site will not let me initiate a pm. I am prior service and have a few specific questions. - thank you
