  1. Hi everyone! I started a new full time staff position recently for ED. Just a little background, I've been a nurse for about 6 years with recent trauma 1 experience also in the ER. I left to do a little bit of travel nursing before ultimately returning to a full time staff job. It's only been a few weeks but I feel I am having a hard time adjusting and it feels rather cliquey. I'd like to say I'm pretty friendly but I am definitely more on quieter side. I also tend to stay pretty focused on my work. I also think I am pretty hard on myself as I feel like I have a lot to prove coming as a new hire. It also doesn't help that every time I'm in the break room, the other staff nurses seem to talk crap about the new nurses and new grads. Has anyone felt like this before? What was your experience dealing with a similar situation?
  2. Hello all, I am a nurse with about one year of MS/Tele experience. I love what I do but I am quickly learning that I do not think floor nursing is for me. I have always been interested in working in the ED but I am quite introverted. I mean I like talking to people, like patients and coworkers. However, I just find myself not engaging in too much small talk and I am more focused on work. I have always been interested in the ED because I love to learn a lot with different environments. My question is, can an introverted nurse work in the ED?
  3. Hello all! I’m a new graduate and have recently gotten my RN license as of March 2020. I am currently struggling upon which job offer I should go towards. I was offered a new grad position at Centinela Healthcare under Pioneer Staffing. I also recently received an email from the LA county saying my application for a position as an RN/Relief Nurse was accepted. The reason I am struggling to make a decision is because I understand the LA County can take a few months to be processed and to actually get “hired.” However, for Centinela, it would be an immediate position but under a 2 year contract. I have heard good things from their program. The only downside is pay. I am not sure if I should continue to wait for the LA County job with potentially greater benefits when there is a job offer already presented to me. As a new grad, I understand we cannot be picky about pay as it is extremely difficult to find a job as a new grad. However, I am just a bit hesitant about accepting the Centinela position if the LA county one responds back. Should I continue to wait or accept the new grad position in order to gain experience? Any advice helps, thank you all so much and I hope you all are staying safe!
  4. Hi all, Any tips on how to overcome feeling discouraged about nursing school? I have just started my 2nd semester in nursing school, which is all med-surg. However, I feel so overwhelmed and I do not feel my skills are not as good as they should be, especially in comparison to my classmates. I just get too nervous and which is what really messes me up. Has anyone else ever felt this way or is this just me? Any tip helps :)
