Hi, I work in a small regional hospital and recently realized that our ICU has no policy for extubation or the immediate care after. I am trying to develop a policy of best practices so that I can develop one. I am just wondering if anyone would be willing to share policies from their facilities? Thanks, AG
It's not abnormal to feel overwhelmed when starting. Have you considered asking your manager to assign you a mentor that you can talk to? Perhaps it will help alleviate some of the stress you are feeling if you can talk about the cases that are bothering you with someone?
My hospital ED/ICU are a joint unit. Currently we are undergoing a staffing crisis and increase in workload due to increase in number of ED visits and increase in pt acuity. Has anyone gone through the process of trying to prove that staff patterns are not adequate for the acuity of the unit? Any suggestion on tracking tool for data? Approaches that would best? I am trying to find a place to start with providing proof. Just feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start. Any help/suggestion is appreciated! Amanda
