TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?
Hi, I decided super last minute to transfer to TWU. I was actually in Texas Tech's Nursing program for a semester and had to move to Dallas for some personal reasons. I was honestly feeling fine about all this until I started reading the forums and realized that my Admission score is actually super low and I'm kind of freaking out. I don't have a prior Bachelor's degree and I didn't get my credits from TWU (I got all of them from Texas Tech) so I don't get any bumps in my admission scores. I know Houston seems to be easier to get in but the whole reason I am transferring is to stay in Dallas. Admission Score 44.53 TEAS Composite Score 86 Reading 91.5 Math 96.9 Science 72.3 English 83.3 Nursing Core GPA: 3.76 Prereq's GPA: 3.74 Anyways, I know on the application we were given the option to add work/health related experience and licenses and other documents. I have pretty good experience and even downloaded 2 reference letters. How important will these be and will it be enough to make a difference? If they only look at the admission scores, then why even give us the option to add these documents and experiences? I put my credit hours into the TWU section just to see how it would change my score and I got a 62.53 Admissions score (not my actual score)! It seems so unfair that they give such a big bump just for students who took classes at TWU. What do I do.

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019

Thanks for clarifying everything! Hopefully you're right and it's all true.

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Oh, so if I say no to Abilene's offer, and don't get in for Lubbock Spring 2019, I would be guaranteed a spot for Lubbock Summer 2019? And how did everyone do on their interviews? How does everyone feel?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Here are some questions I heard they asked before: 1. Who is your role model? 2. Why do you want to be a nurse? 3. What would you do if your friend broke HIPAA laws? 4. What questions do you have for us?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
I heard the same thing! It doesn't matter where your interview is, because you'll be interviewing for all locations that you applied for! So after the interviews, does anyone know what order they will be sending out acceptance emails? Will they be doing Abilene first and then Lubbock? Or tell you you can go to either one of your choice? Or how does it work? Because I also heard that you have to reject Abilene in order to even know if you got into Lubbock. So if you didn't get into Lubbock, you're not able to go back to Abilene as back up. Anyways, congrats to everyone who has gotten an interview invite!

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Hey guys! I just got an interview invite for Abilene! Has anyone else gotten anything? Abilene or Lubbock?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
So which campuses have you applied for?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
I took both classes at Texas Tech, Lubbock. The communication in Nursing class was in person, and the Intro to nursing class was online! I didn't think either one was hard as long as you don't slack off just because it's considered an easier class! I know some people thought that the communications in nursing class was a grade booster and didn't study any material for the first test, and ended up doing not so great. You actually have to pay attention to the theories and understand what they are! The Intro to nursing class is really focused on APA citations for some reason. I have no idea why they decided to make that the focus, but they barely grade on your actual nursing work, just citation mistakes you put like an extra space after a comma, or you wrongly capitalized a word, or something like that.

Hi Irw2, No, I haven't heard anything yet. I will definitely let everyone know whenever I do! Does anyone know how much time it takes for people to hear back AFTER the interviews have been conducted?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Hi a_j20, Your GPA and TEAS scores are amazing! I haven't heard anything and it does seem a bit too early for anyone else to have heard something. Unless maybe they were offered a spot from applying the previous year? I know some people applied last semester and didn't get in because of the lack of space. However, they were offered a guaranteed spot for the very next semester. So what kind of extracurricular or medical experience do you have?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Ashleycst, Wow, that sounds like great experience! I'm sure you've got this in the bag. I had no idea that nursing is what I wanted to do until my sohomore year, so I had to squeeze all of my medical experience into that one year and summer. Hopefully it's enough to get me an interview! So are you going to be using your CNA license?

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
While we are all anxiously waiting for the results, I'm thinking we can talk about what kind of medical experiences, volunteer, or any resume stuff everyone has done! I know it would make me feel better to know if the amount I have done is good enough, or If it isn't enough, I'll know what I need to improve next semester in case I don't get in this time around. I've volunteered at an elementary school as a mentor for 1+ years now. I currently volunteer at a hospice once a week. I was a UTA for a semester, and am in Double T Health Corp (I'm only in one school club unfortunately). I also did some shadowing the previous summer. I also worked as a medical technician at an Othalmology clinic! What about everyone else? I know a lot of people I have talked to either worked as a CNA or an EMT, but I didn't so I hope that doesn't look bad!

So far, I hear that it takes about 4-6 weeks just to find out if you got an interview or not! I hope that it doesn't really take that long.
-
Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Yes, I do!

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
No problem! And I know, the waiting part seems almost just as nerve-wracking as the actual application part. All I know is the responses seems to come in 2 waves. So if when the first wave comes around and you didn't hear anything, no worries, because you're probably part of the second wave of applicants and will hear from them soon too.

Hey ashleycst! No, I haven't heard anything yet. And I don't know anyone else who has.

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
I'm taking MBIO, Lifespan human development, Medical Terminology, and Pathophysiology as well! I'm pretty sure we will be in the same class for Patho since there is just one course time.

Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
Hi elarvin! Your scores are really great! I hope you get into Lubbock. I'm also hoping to get into Lubbock as well because I'm also an undergraduate student at TTU. Are you taking classes at TTU for this Fall?
-
Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019
I'm applying for Lubbock first choice and Abilene second choice. But I heard that you get results back from Abilene first and if you if you accept it then they just cancel your application for Lubbock! And if you reject Abilene, then there's also a chance that you didn't get into Lubbock so you end up with neither. So I'm a bit worried. So do you go to Texas Tech University right now? Or another school?
