RN as PCT???
First if I'm posting in the wrong area of this site i apologize. Background I graduate with in the next few weeks and will be sitting for NCLEX soon hopefully. I was wondering if once i become a RN could one still work as a PCT at another job while working as a nurse? Reason im asking is I think one day i would like to do the ER(i could go straight as a new grad since our hospital does allow that but i know I'm not ready yet.) Ive only worked the ER as a float tech a few times so i would like to see if i really like the ER in a less demanding role before trying to work it as a RN. It is to late to just do a transfer to the ER as a tech at my current job because than i would have to wait about 3 month to transfer into any RN role anywhere in the hospital due to transfer policy. Currently a ER tech job is open at another hospital i thought about applying to see if i like the ER . My grand idea would be to work full time as a RN at current job and PRN in ER at the other hospital as a tech at the sametime i was wondering if that is possible. (Not being Rude but before anyone states the obvious yes my main focus is passing NCLEX at the moment)

Nurse Imposters
It was wrong to call her self a nurse, but she could have been train by that office to handle orders and certain call that a nurse will normal do. I know of hospital that train CNA to do certain skills like simple sterile wound care dressing , phlebotomy , but in certain orders (after nurse takes it)etc. but it ok because they have the proper training by that company and it's only for there company. But even with that training they never address themselves as a nurse.

Non bedside nursing Option ... and a side question bout Nails?
im Currently heading into 4th semester and will have one more semester after that to go. Yes im focus on passing each semester than NClEX. I just plan on enrolling into the next phase of schooling with in 6 months of passing NCLEX so im trying to start my research into what i need so as to look at the right schools , and right path. I do plan to do bedside for at least 2-3 years everyone must pay homage to nursing before moving up. The nails aren't that big of deal more a curiosity question.(I can live with gel and normal nail polish)

"Ew, I don't want to wipe butts all day"
Yes one of my current class mates had to take someone to the BSC and made the reply after that she cant wait to be Nurse so she doesn't have to do that. Since 5/8 of our clinical group are CNA we kindly explain to her that your CNA is not always available. They cant be two places at once they may be in the middle of helping another patient and you will still have to get up and take them to the rest room.

Working during nursing school
im currently in Nursing School I been Working 24 hr a week on Nights as a CNA up until our summer semester which was too fast pace to keep with studying and the 24 every week and i went PRN. It honestly depends on you and your study habits some of my class mates still work full time and have done just fine other part time and some of us PRN. The one thing i will say overall is the one of us the work at our local hospital have found it alot easier to deal with our boss and the constant need to change or make short notice changes than my classmates that do not. Our bosses understand since they are Nurses or medical staff how nursing school work vs. a boss at a Walmart for example and are more will to work with the changes. If you can get on at a hospital that would be great and even better if you Can get in a Float department if they have one that allows you to make your own schedule that has been the biggest life saver for me.Hope you figure it out

Non bedside nursing Option ... and a side question bout Nails?
Im currently a ADN Nursing student and i work as a Tech. I hope to get my BSN soon after i finish my ADN. I've enjoyed our clinical so far, but i have a strange feeling i will not enjoy bed side nursing for very long after i graduated . So i have two question What are other great jobs that a Nurses can do (Non-Bedside) ? (To add to this i want to know so i can start looking at what education is require for non bedside jobs not that i don't want to bedside at all ) and the second one is, are there any line of Nursing or health career related jobs ( non patient care) that you can have acrylic nails? (Yes i know it may sound like a dumb question but, i just love having my nails done at least at my age, and i have a bad habit of bitting my nail which i don't do when they are done. I know i won't be able to right out of school more like a down the road option.) YES i understand infection control for the patient care part.
