Hey guys, I need some advice. I start a nursing program in 9/2019, so I basically have a whole year to wait and don't feel like wasting anytime so do you guys think it would be worth it to get my A.A? I'm only 3 classes short of getting it... I already have all my prereq's done. I know I will be getting my 2 year ASN degree in nursing and then I'll go on to get my BSN (hopefully) but will getting my A.A. benefit me in any way? My goal is to be a nurse practitioner one day so is there any classes I can take that will help speed up the process down the road, will carry over or benefit me in some other way?

Hello everyone, I need some advice please!! I just finished up all my prereqs for nursing school and before I go anyfurther I want to make sure that I won't be doing all this for nothing, becauseI do have a criminal background. I'm afraid that when the time comes, Floridawon't either let me sit or if they do then they won't license me. I don't haveviolent charges, drug charges, and have I've never been convicted of a felony (butI have been arrested for one). When I was 20 I started going down the wrongroad, hanging out with the wrong people and caught to separate charges forpetty theft, one of them I was originally arrested for a grand theft (a felony)but it was later dropped to a misdemeanor and adjudication was withheld. Forthe second petty theft charge (later that year) I was convicted. I stayed outof trouble for 8 years, but last year November I was pulled over in NY, leavingmy girlfriends sister's wedding and blew a .008 (the legal limit) and wasarrested for a DUI. It has been dropped to a DWI (only a traffic violation inNY and moves out of the criminal category). Do they go off what you were originallyarrested for? And more importantly do you guys think I have a chance of evergetting licensed in Florida or any other state for that matter?? I'm an EMT andI've worked in hospitals and it never seamed to be an issue....[/COLOR][/font]

Hey guys, Does anybody know which states are more lenient than others, when it comes to licensing someone who has a criminal background for a RN? I have made mistakes in the past and I'm not trying to run from them, nor would I lie on an application and I always disclose everything to the best of my knowledge. I'm not stupid I know which offense will automatically disqualify you like drug related charges, felonies, and things like that. In my case I have two petty theft charges, once convicted and another time adjudication withheld. I can't take back the things I did, but it's made me who I am today. I currently live in Florida but from what I've read they're definitely a lot stricter I guess you could say than others (I could be wrong). Nursing is my dream, any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys:)!
