Northwell health
I recently interviewed at NSUH on dec 11th and I believe it went really well. I received an email on January 1st to complete a reference check which was done. I have a friend and cousin that work there that say the next steps will be offer and orientation date. My question is how long did it take for the nurse recruiter to get back to anyone and was it a verbal offer and email, or was it all through email? I know I have to be patient but really eager to start working there as my current work environment is unsafe and I don't want to continue risking my license working there.

@Momo53 yes you can sit for the NCLEX when you complete the associate's. Make sure you check that your state recognizes Excelsior's program. I live in NY and the school is based in NY.

@pediatriclpn22 there are 3 phases...depending on what you come in with will determine how fast you'll finish. It took me 1 1/2 years with my prereqs I already had. Right now the school is going through a change in curriculum to align with in person schools so everything is all ATI and they did a bad job with the rollout. It's very very costly so if you can find a more affordable school I'd said go with that option. Im currently just waiting to sit for my NCLEX, so just been studying.

New grad looking for job in nyc
Hello everyone, I have just graduated from my LPN to RN program, soon to take my NCLEX. I wanted to know the best hospitals in NYC to work at. I have been looking at jobs but also getting a headache trying to figure out which hospital would be the best fit. I've looked at jobs for NYU Langone, Northwell, Mount sinai and NY presbyterian. Of these four which one of them would be a good fit?

Again I highly doubt you'll b able to cheat as you're implying..because you're also working against time..if you don't know the material you won't pass and it's just that simple.

Umm the prepU are just homework assignments. ATI which isn't until the last class NUR 290 is proctored. As for the exams in the earlier classes, they aren't proctored but if you don't know the Information you will not pass those exams so tbh it doesn't really matter if it's proctored or not.

No prepU isn't proctored..it's basically NCLEX style questions

Im almost finished with Phase two of the program. I'll be in phase 3 starting Summer 1. Retaining the information we have to learn is what I mean. You are given numerous chapters to read each week, along with the prep U quizzes, Discussion boards and all assignments are due by Sunday of that week by 11:59pm. Advisors mostly help you in terms registering for your classes. I do believe they have tutoring but I don't really need it. I more so wished they had like lectures 2 days a week it would help as opposed to basically teaching yourself. The professors do have zoom sessions once a week to address your questions or concerns. But like I said you are pretty much teaching yourself. my situation doesn't allow me to go to a physical school which is why I had to go to excelsior but I would rather go to a physical school if things were different. Make sure you do all your assignments and study as best you can to pass you midterm and final.

Im currently in the program and you get alot of work and reading to be completed within a week. It's alot of reading in my opinion and I don't retain as much. But some of what I remember was from LPN school so that helps me with some of the material.

@BeKind2 hey yes I was able to take my NCLEX and I passed. Currently back in school for my RN..I’m also working at a nursing home near my home..also I’ll send the PP later on..have a busy day today..I think they pretty much use the same PPts for the most part..I know there is a new A&P instructor so I’m not sure if she’s using the same PPTS the old instructor that I had used.

Hello @nursingcand alumni here, I’m not sure if they are using the same facilities but most of them are all in Long Island. The ones I went to was Nassau university medical center, Cold Spring hills center for nursing and rehab, and there’s was another one we went to but can’t remember but I’m sure you’ll have a lot more facilities because when I went it was still during when they had a lot of restrictions because of Covid. In terms of transportation I either took Uber which isn’t really practical as it’s very expensive and got rides from my fellow classmates. I say see if you can rides from your classmates and or carpool.

@nursingcand its not a hard program to get into since the entrance exam is relatively easy. It’s basic math and reading. You have to pass with a minimum of 9th grade math level and 11th grade level reading. There are no waitlists to my knowledge. I believe testing starts in January for the next school year up until July I believe til they fill the seats. I’m a former student.
