  1. DUUUUUUUDE!!!!! I never had any doubt! Congrats and good luck! :w00t::cheers:
  2. I don't know if this is applicable to this situation, but I was just checking on something similar on Friday. Where I work, they have lab techs pulling bone marrow biopsies and don't bill for MD coverage. My md wanted me to find out if an apn provided coverage if they could bill for it like a md. The state board of nursing said that an apn could bill for anything an md could. There was one caveat, bcbs does not like to reimburse for procedures provided by apn's.
  3. Thanks......Now I know what to say to you when I run into you at a convention or something in the future! :roll I know, easy shot but Mike, I just couldn't resist it! Take care buddy.
  4. Dude...learn to read. I didn't say it wasn't mutually exclusive to residency. Obviously you are just wanting to argue with people so everyone should really ignore you. Just to appease you, I will talk to some med students and professors in the am just to shut you up....after that....I'll your posts until you grow up and get serious.
  5. Like it or not medicine is a business. Med schools do include some of the business aspects in their education. Like JWK said it may not be an entire class but there are lectures, conferences etc. They would be short-changing their students if this type of material was not included, IMHO. How do I know...I work at a teaching institution. I can pull some of the material up from the website. In fact, there is a syllabus and lecture from the ANESTHESIA department about setting up a practice, making your CV, finding a job, insurance, benefits, taxes the whole nine yards. Frankly, anyone who thinks this stuff isn't taught SOMEWHERE along the way of a medical education is quite ignorant of the process and hasn't really been around it.
  6. Apply now. I applied and was accepted while I was finishing my BSN and I know others that have done the same. Obviously, if you don't finish succesfully your screwed though.
  7. Sorry for the misquote... Do I at least get credit for remembering you posted it a while back? Nice quote.
  8. I think the earth just righted its axis! Welcome back, Yoga! Feels good to sit at the feet of the master again. And a big congratulations to ATHOMAS,CRNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Yep, like deepz said earlier: "we stand on broad shoulders".
  10. Does this post mean you finally got those passing results in? Haven't heard you say.......................sure you passed!
  11. You can tell a whole lot about a patient from just the basic V/S, cvp, foley bag and a good assessment.
  12. Walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....must be another rich felon. :monkeydance: Fact of the matter......they can afford to hire the hotshot attorneys and publists to get them out of what us poor mo fo's would be doing hard time for.
  13. Yeah, I start na school in January. The next two months are going to kick my a$$, but it's only two and I might as well get used to it. I'm looking forward to it. It will be cool to see some of the things that I have been reading about..like the anesthesia machine. I can define MAC and all but I want to see how it relates to say what you set the machine for. Relate the book to the real world, you know? Should be fun and motivate me for january!
  14. I, too, am doing a 120 hour practicum to wrap up my bsn this summer. My school was gracious enough to allow me to shadow a crna friend for my practicum so that should be fun. Other than that, reading the mdm, barash, miller, et. al.
  15. I can't tell you if it is informative for the first year srna as I don't start classes until January. I can tell you that it is "suggested" by my program and is generally recommended by all anesthesia providers. I have read it a coupla times and it seems to be a good "start". I have many other books I'm working on. There are several threads that have many very good suggestions. At the moment I am partial to "anesthesia secrets" , M & M and Barash.
