Student nurses: Earn 40/hr on COVID units?
I jumped on it! I’m hoping it can count as clinical hours because they don’t have placements for us during our last semester. The pay is way too good to pass up (unless you don’t need the money). Plus, it’ll give you a good idea of what it’s like at Kaiser and if you’d want to work there. And who knows, it could be a foot in the door. From my understanding it’s not on a covid unit, and we may get to float through the hospital assigned to different nurses. I would also guess that at some point we’ll have a chance to get the vaccine if we’re working in COVID units. I sent all my paperwork in and just waiting to hear back on my orientation! The app is closed now though.

APU ELM Nursing Fall 2019
Exciting! I was asked things like describe a time you were very stressed and how handled it, describe a time of confrontation and how you dealt etc. She had a sheet of questions with 3 circled so I think I would googled like "typical nursing school interview questions" and just come prepared. There was no prompt for the writing piece they just said write a response. It was an op-ed by someone giving advice for students who are doubting themselves during nursing school. It was all very welcoming, I didn't feel I was being tested or judged. So I wouldn't worry it's going to be a high intensity environment. Just come prepared and be able to show you know what you're getting yourself into with nursing school :)

APU ELM Nursing Fall 2019
Do you mind my asking why you're all applying to apu? Is it convenient with location and timing? The specialty, structure of program and does the faith profession of the school play a role for you?im just trying gauge what kind of students are attracted to the program and why. For me I like the way they award the 18 month bsn, small cohort and where the clinical rotations are. I'm also local and my family (with little nieces and nephews) are here so I like that I can be close to home. I moved back last year to be close to Family after being away for 8 years. This whole nursing journey was unexpected and has taken so much more work than I thought when I decided to pursue it. Today felt kind of surreal like wait a minute... I'm actually here, it's time for admissions interviews?! Felt like prerequisites would never end haha

APU ELM Nursing Fall 2019
I hope you do too! I'm not sure what to expect because today at my interview in San Diego she told me they're meeting in January... obviously I'd like to find out sooner so I can gauge what's going on in regards to other applications. Which campus are you applying to?

APU ELM Nursing Fall 2019
I'm getting back from my interview today! I got called last week of sept and went in first week of oct. The interview was like what everyone before has said. I would be prepared for any standard interview question like handling conflict, examples of how you perform under stress etc. Also it sounds like admission team isn't meeting until January this year Good luck all!

APU ELM Nursing Fall 2019
Oh the admissions office told me but I'm sure people are sending them in right up to the deadline! Thanks for offering to send it, thats so nice! I already submitted it so it's ok. I volunteer at UCSD as a doula and I was there last night and was asking some of the nurses about school and I actually got to meet someone who went to APU and she loved it. Just nice to talk to a grad and hear her experience was so great and she got a job right after school. Apu has such a great reputation, it's nice to talk to someone and get a testimony too. best of luck!! I'm just trying to put it out of my mind until the interview invitations go outs

APU ELM Nursing Fall 2019
Hey everyone! I just submitted my application and I'm waiting on a transcript (I got a confirmation they received it 10 days ago but APU is looking for it.) I applied for the San Diego campus. Last week they only had 15 applications in with 100 started. Seems like a slower term?? But I saw a number of fall 2019 spots were given to previous applications. Wondering if they're still accepting 20 from our application cycle or if there's fewer since some are already filled. I'd love to hear about your letters to the dean. Mine was 2 pages and mostly autobiographical to give them a narrative of how I decided to pursue nursing. Im on call on Thursday (I'm a doula) but hoping to making it to the info session!! good luck everyone
