  1. Thank you for the advice. I have wanted to be a nurse since I was about 10 years old. I've spent about 7 months volunteering in a nursing home & hospice. Most of my time was spent shadowing the nursing staff learning about their jobs and spending time with the residents. My time there very enjoyable and can't wait start my nursing career.
  2. I am taking my GED test next month and I have just started a job at burgerking to save up money for school. I cant stand my work there the back of the kitchen roughly 105-110 degrees and the heat and smell of food makes me sick to my stomach. I have lost 9 pounds a week in a since I cant bring my self to eat being repulsed by food from work. After I take my Ged test and sign up for my cna class and nusring pre requisites would it hurt me to turn in my 2 weeks notice? Will it damage my resume to work at burger king for roughly a month with a reason for leaving to attend school full time and full filling my 2 weeks notice? This is not the only work experience and im not a flak and have good references from my other employers. I have volunteered in a nursing home and a hospice and I know what is in for me as a cna. The smell and tasks of the job are unpleasant at times but it doesn't bother me. A second question I have is about lpn and rn course work. The college I am looking to attend has rougly a 1 year course for lpn and 3years for rn. Should I take the lpn course's before I start my rn classes? Thank you all in advance
  3. I am looking into state and local jr colleges, and all the college programs are confusing me. I am planing on going to school for my CNA then my RN after. So far ive seen colleges that have CNA, Medical assistant, and Medical Assistant with limited x-ray programs. Are they the same thing or is one better then the other? I'm also unsure the difference between a LPN RN and BSN.
  4. Thanks for the suport but thankfully the ged is really easy for me I am a A and B student in highschool the new credit system is the only reason I am getting my ged>
  5. Ok Thanks for the info you two. I hope I can get a meeting with my counselors some time to day and sign up for my pre RN classes for winter if possible or atleast spring quarter.
  6. Hi my name is Tom and I have always wanted to work in the medical field, cuz helping people is my lifes calling. I want to become a RN some day I am 18 and currently taking my ged course. I will be done some time in march I think. Anyway I havent done to much research on what I need tobecome a RN cuz I planned on finishing highschool later this year, but I had to move and the highschool in the area need 21 credits. I would have stuck it out but I would have been in highschool for anouther year and a half with the new credit system> I am going to talk with the counselors at my community college that I am going to now sometime thusday or friday those are my only days off. I would like to have a general understanding of what classes I need to have before I can start my RN classes? Also about how long would it take to complete the entire RN course? From what little I have been able to look up in the 30 min between school and when I have to go to work every day it looks like a 2-3 year course. I am sorry if I have bad grammer, spelling, or punctuation I just got off a 11 hour work day in a 63 hour work week and I am really really tired>
