  1. Do you need to fast or do any preparations beforehand? And what drugs do they test for? I'm going to assume it's a urine test.
  2. Did you pay anything?
  3. So who already took the drug test? I plan on bringing the Castlebranch paper (registration form) but I don't know where I can find an electronic Chain of Custody form... Someone clarify? Thankss
  4. Hello. I just wanted to update and see how you guys are doing with Castle Branch and everything overall. I recently turned in my Hep B first vaccination (Dec 5) in Castle Branch but it says that I am late, I thought all vaccinations (except Influezna) are all due on December 15. Anyone else having this issue with overdue dates? Will it impact your admissions if you turn something in a few days late? Other than that every thing I turned in went smoothly.
  5. When I went to registration they chose the schedule for me, though they did let me choose what day I can have my clinicals. I chose to have it on Wednesdays instead of Saturdays. Hopefully the teachers we have will prepare us :) I had my registration on November 1. Does anyone know when we will need to pay for the classes in full?
  6. I received mines on October 23. I'd like to inform everyone that you will use Castlebranch and will need to pay $171 to access important paperwork. Also, you should get your influenza vaccine ASAP and have that on file before October 31.
  7. I contacted the nursing department number and the lady I spoke to told me that they will start mailing the large packets on October 12. We should be expecting mail either next week or the week after (towards the end of October). Apparantely we will need to have CPR certification before starting the program. But all that will be included in the packet.
  8. Sigh... This is why I do not like notification letters through mail. Some people get it earlier, some people get it later, sometimes things get lost in mail, etc. Hoping in the future that she uses e-mail to notify students of admission status. Sorry, but the only thing you can do is wait I'm still waiting for a packet for background check, health requirements, etc. and I have no idea when I will get that, so we're kinda on the same boat. Your back up plan could be to apply to multiple programs and retake your TEAS if it isn't high. Some schools may require a minimum of 70% to apply but will often accept applicants who have a score of 78% or higher. Maybe even take HESI so u can apply to more schools in the case you dont get accepted at CCAC. I made sure that I applied to multiple programs myself so that I'm not as stressed if I find that one school rejected me. Consider retaking prerequisite courses to bump up your GPA if you didn't do so hot in them. But if you are previously an LVN, I don't see why she would not accept you! You'll be more prepared than I am since I don't even have a degree (:
  9. This may be too early to say but because I live out-of-state and my parents do not want me to bring my own car, I'll have to rely on public transportations and carpooling. It would be great if someone could make accomodations with me. I'm currently looking for housing that's as close to the school (walking distance) but I am aware of clinicals and that might be far from the college. Let me know if you are okay with providing carpooling, I will be forever greatful!! Also, if you guys have already faxed your Confiming Acceptance and Functional abilities forms, you can call the school of nursing or email the other email address that the coordinator gave us in the letter if you want to confirm that they have received your forms. They respond quick! Just don't email the nursing coordinator herself because she won't respond. Can't wait to start! ^___^
  10. I got accepted into Allegheny Campus EVENING!!! I received it on Sep 27. I'm very pleased and will take the offer. Who also got accepted in the evening? Congratulations to everyone who made it into the program and for those of you who have not received it yet, I wish that you will receive acceptance letters ! :) On another note, I think that letters are first sent out to those that have applied earlier and it is not based on last name, because I sent in my applications on July 4 and my last name starts with an 'M'. The only reason why I received it a little later was because I live out-of-state. Not sure of this though. I keep hearing about a second mail that will come in (in terms of background checks, health requirements, etc.) but I have not heard anything from admissions yet about that matter. I'm not sure where to look either, I already looked at the Nursing Handbook and attempted to look for specific health requirements such as what vaccinations we need. If anyone can post any information related to this it would be helpful.
  11. Since I'm not from CCAC, I have no clue what my CCAC GPA is (I am applying as a transfer and not all of the courses I took have been transferred since I have too many units). However, my current overall GPA is a 3.6. Hoping that is enough to get accepted. And yeah true, waiting could be worth the while, assuming we don't face rejection I did apply to other schools including a university, but I have yet to hear back from them. As for UPMC Shadyside, I'm not sure if I want to apply there since I have not took an ethics course for prerequisites. Not to mention they have a lower NCLEX pass rate so I don't know if I really want to go over there.
  12. Here is what she had to say about my email. I'm still confused but I do know now that I was wrong about how the point system works. Here's what she had to say: "Pre-reqs are not listed in the additional point section. There are only 3 courses listed that mentions extra points. The "or" that you are referring to indicates that points are possible if a student has completed one or more of the three courses listed. Placing an "and" in there gives the impression that a student has to complete all 3 of those courses in order to receive points, which is not true. A student can take 1 or 2 of them and still receive points Did you review the point chart that goes with the verbiage you are reading? It maps out which courses are eligible for points, the point scale, and other important factors. Also, please note that Points are only applied to students who meet all of the admission criteria. They cannot be used to increase a GPA. The student has to have a 2.80 GPA prior to any points being applied. This question comes up a lot so I thought I would include it in this discussion." So far I can conclude that since I completed A&P 1-2 and Micro I know that I will get points for those and additionally I have a GPA that is much higher than a 2.80, so I think I'm on the right track. If you are right and it is ranked based on comparisons of GPA and other factors, we cannot really know our score exactly and we just have to hope we have enough to get acceptance. It's not like we can currently compare other applicants by seeing their GPA's and courses completed. It's all so scary!
  13. I emailed this to the Nursing Coordinator already but if you know anything about the point system it would be nice for you to share what you know. Here's the original message I sent: "I had a question regarding how points are calculated. According to the Nursing Information Packet on page 9, "additional points are awarded based on the grade earned for the successful completion of BIO 161 Anatomy and Physiology 1, BIO 162 Anatomy and Physiology 2 OR BIO 175 Microbiology." Notice the "or" in the sentence. If I completed all the four necessary prerequisites (Biology, Chemistry, Math, English) and completed all of A&P 1, A&P 2, and Microbiology, will I receive points for ALL of these classes, or will I only receive points for the four prerequisites and ONE additional class? The "or" confused me and just wanted clarification. It would be helpful. If you do not know what I mean, I can show the following two scenarios: First scenario: Biology- 0.75 Chemistry- 0 Math- 0.75 English- 0.75 A&P1- 0.75 A&P2- 0.5 Microbiology- 0.5 TOTAL POINTS: 4 Second scenario: Biology- 0.75 Chemistry- 0 Math- 0.75 English- 0.75 A&P1- 0.75 TOTAL POINTS: 3 Which of these two scenarios is most likely to be considered for the program?" On another note, can't wait for September 15! May the odds ever be in our favor.
  14. Priority deadline is if you applied to the program before August 15 and have all the minimum prerequisites and your TEAS score. You must have your TEAS score before August 15. I think this is where you get an acceptance letter a little earlier. Final deadline on September 15 means that you are still allowed to apply but are not prioritized (you may not get your first choice of campus) I think it's if there's extra room this is where the September deadline comes from but I'm not sure. Personally I would suggest finishing all prerequisites and other support courses so that you will only need to worry about the Nursing courses. It also increases your chances of getting into the nursing program if you have already completed A&P and Microbio (These are the extra courses you can take for extra points). But if you have mostly A's in your prerequisites and have a high TEAS score or high GPA, you may just boost your chances! I studied three days before the test and managed to pull a 76%, so three weeks is more than enough time. Tbf though I took my prereqs before TEAS, but I think you can still do okay if you know the big picture of A&P. I just used Mometrix videos on YouTube to prepare (and it's free!) I wish everyone good luck! If anyone knows when acceptance letters will come out for priority deadline, please let everyone know! I'm still waiting for (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) to respond to my email about the status of my TEAS and nursing application (has she received it yet or not?). I just hope I can get a response from her before the deadline.
  15. I wanted to give you guys an update- I finally had my transcripts evaluated from out-of-state and was sent a mail on which courses are transferrable. I am happy to say I got all of my nursing prerequisites. I would show it here but I'm kinda new to this site so I'm not so sure of how to post it, but if you really want to see them, you can always email me (I'll give an email address if someone here wants to see them, it could help another person somehow). I also sent in my TEAS scores electronically through the ATI website and chose "CCAC North ADN." But I don't know if I am supposed to send it through there. How did you guys send your TEAS scores if you already have? I never attended CCAC before in case you ask. Also emailed and called a few people a few days ago, but they all say they don't have access to the scores except for (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). I even tried to email and call (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME), but I have not gotten any replies whatsoever. She is probably really busy so I understand if she doesn't respond right away, but I am hoping to get some response from her in a few days. It really makes me anxious not knowing
