Hiring an RN into private practice
Yeah because it’s fee schedule based, reimbursement varies quite a bit by location. I was working in High cost of living California area, hence higher reimbursement.

Hiring an RN into private practice
Hey no problem! Yeah usually more like $9000-$12,000 er patient after insurance does the fee schedule adjustment writeoff. Most companies reimbursed on the lower end of that.

UCI MEPN Fall 2019
Hey everyone.. I hopped on here because I got hit with this random memory of AllNurses and how I used to peruse and banter on here all the time in a past life. Oh how time flies. I never got into UCI and actually after getting rejected here I took a long hard look at nursing, how long it'd take me to get prereqs done and get in somewhere, how expensive school is, etc... I went a different route and now I'm a software engineer loving what I do every day. Life is so funny. I hope everyone in this thread is enjoying their lives as nurses, or whereever else life may have led you if you're like me, and sincerely wishing everyone the best. Thanks for the nostalgia and cheers!

USF MSN-CNL (Non-Nurses) - Summer 2019
Hey guys is this the right thread for anyone applying to the OC campus?

UCI MEPN Fall 2019
Hey Nikki, Thanks so much I really appreciate the encouragement ? You sound like an awesome applicant so congrats on the well-deserved interview. I had a 3.4 undergrad GPA with mostly A's in all core science classes, 4.0 prereq GPA, and have been manager and lead technician of a neuropsychiatry clinic for two years. Had great letters too... Maybe it was my essays. In any case, best of luck to you and those who got interviews. See you in the nursing field someday!

So cool you have some choices, on of them being your top choice - congrats on all the hard work paying off! ? I know it's a marathon not a sprint so I'm trying to prepare for the worst today and keep pushing on. Your testimony helps! And yes, let's keep each other posted. Saying a prayer for us all!

UCI MEPN Fall 2019
Everyone - check your emails. Just got this: "Thank you for applying for the Master’s Entry Program in Nursing at the UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing. As an update, we are still in the process of finalizing our application review process. If you are selected for an interview, you will be notified by the end of Monday, March 11, 2018. Interviews will be conducted online so you will not need to travel to UC Irvine for interviews. We apologize for the delay." Have a great weekend, enjoy some sunshine and fresh air if you can. Talk you guys Monday for the big day! Cheers! ❤️

UCI MEPN 2019
Hey Brandi! No I haven't yet unfortunately, another fellow applicant called in this morning and it sounds like they are now going to send out invites next week. ? If you want to follow up, the other post about UCI MEPN this cycle has more traffic. I linked it above to YasiYasi, might be the better post to check out and stay up to date ? Best of luck and see you over in that forum!

UCI MEPN Fall 2019
Soooo... not by the end of the first week of March? I was SO ready to have some closure by the time this day is over lol ugh! Also yes, thanks for calling in and letting us know what's up!

I dont think I have the personality for nursing, and may need to switch majors...
I think we can all relate to this in some way. One thing I've noticed about myself and many people I know is that we all just want to be good at something. Sounds like you just need more time to learn, practice, and refine your skills. Once you are great at them (and again, in due time) I'm sure you will feel much better about your place in the nursing field ? Source: not nurse, or even nursing student yet, but am human being (last I checked)

UCI MEPN Fall 2019
Haha nice! What's that procedure even for? And yes might as well stay positive! ? Also... they said "end of 1st week of March", so does that mean March 7th (even though it's a Thursday) or March 8th (a Friday, but technically 1 day past the first week of March)...? If I'm reading into it too much just tell me to shhhh lol
-
UCI MEPN Fall 2019
Haha oh no! I hope you're all healed up in time for the interview I'm sure you're gunna score! ? And yes I like the mindfulness approach. I'll drink to that!

Master's Entry vs. Accelerated Bachelor's
I am not a nurse but rather a daily lurker of AN.com and have spent a lot of time looking into this for my own sake... I believe the consensus is that initially, one cannot expect a difference in their marketability for jobs, pay, etc. With your entry level MSN, you are ultimately just as fresh an RN as someone who just graduated with their ABSN or even typical BSN. Down the road, since the master's is required for a lot of different forms of advancement in the field, you may see an advantage. You are set up well to go for any of the many different post masters certificates, become an APRN, go into management, etc. I've also read places that your pay may increase a bit quicker due to your masters over time, but it goes without saying that you'd have to be a great nurse for that in either case lol. Overall: it may put you one stepping-stone further along the journey to more advanced nursing roles as you will be a tad more educated in leadership and management, but you should expect minute differences (if any) in your first steps into your career relative to ABSN/BSN graduates. Again - just what I've gathered over a year or two of reading all kinds of threads from nurses and students about this. Hope that is helpful and that I'm not spewing BS! Edit: "...With your entry level MSN, *assuming you pass the NCLEX*, you are ultimately just as fresh an RN as someone who just graduated with their ABSN or even typical BSN *who also passed the NCLEX*..."
