I am halfway through nursing school, but I have been a scrub tech since 1998. I haven't scrubbed a C section since school so I can't help you there. I think it's crazy they let you scrub a C section after only doing it 3 times. There are so many things that can happen and you have to be able to scrub under pressure if it does happen. If they have to do a emergency hysterectomy you will need 2 Kelly clamps, they will clamp, clamp, cut, tie, tie, then cut sutures. Repeat until the uterus is out. Also learning all about the sterile technique can be overwhelming. Here is what I did if I was sent to scrub a case that I have never done before or was sent to scrub with a doctor that has a temper and expects you to know it all. I would find another scrub tech/nurse that knows the doctors routine. Have them tell you the order of instruments for the procedure and what to have on your mayo stand.....write it down. You will build up a stack of cheat sheets until you gain confidence. If you have time and it's not an emergency, set your cheat sheet where you can see it and set up your mayo stand accordingly. Put you instruments in order of use. Bleeding = bovie or clamp, depends on where you are. If they clamp a bleeder most of the time they will tie it off, then you need suture scissors to cut the suture. These are just examples of anticipation. You will pick up on these as you gain experience. Good luck
