  2. No, you are not too old! I just finished LPN school at the age of 51 and I'm going to slowly bridge to a RN. I have a very weak stomach and the start of clinical's was very difficult for me. Everything bothered me -- feces, urine, mucus, etc. I started off with the Vicks trick which helped a bit. My last clinical instructor taught me to put toothpaste in between two masks and that was by far the best method for me. By my last day in clinical, I had a "surprise" bowel movement clean-up and I did it without the mask (wasn't prepared) and I don't even think I gagged. I was determined not to let my weak stomach derail my dream of becoming a nurse!
