I was always under the impression that former employers were not able to comment on an employees job performance but only that "yes" or "no" they worked here. Wasn't there some lawsuits about that at one point? Maybe someone with a better legal background will chip in? Or ask in the legal forums?
  2. Hi everybody, I recently passed my boards and am now looking for a job, woo-hoo! anyways, I applied at a Federal Medical Center (FMC) about 50 miles away from me and was wondering if anybody can help me out with the differences between state and federal correctional institutes? Or even how a FMC differs from a FCI as far as nursing goes? Pay? Benefits? Really any information at all would be helpful, and firsthand experience would be a bonus. Thanks
  3. I'm in my last semester of school and have been checking around also, the hospital I work at as a CNA in southern MN starts new grads at $23-24/hr. (and they're union also), Rochester area from $25-30 depending on dept and shift differentials. I was also told by my Nurse Manager that they will not be hiring any more LPN's for the hospital either due to their Magnet (sp?) status. Usually LTC and home health pay lower than hospital around here too. Agency usually gets @ $30/hr but we haven't had an agency nurse in my dept in over a year. Good luck
