Here is my story to get my RN status on 3rd Try and my thoughts on Saunders, Kaplan and uworld 1st Try I went to a pretty well known school for nursing and my grades were A/A- for nursimg courses. My clinical evaluations were also always very good. I even got job offers but I had to reject as i was leaving the city. So, when the time came for nclex exam, i decided that my knowledge was enough. I literally did not study at all, solved like 50 questions found randomly online. Worst mistake ever. Fail- 75 questions 2nd try after a big slap in the face, I decided to actually study. I studied off Saunders. I literally read and took notes off every single page. I studies the notes and solved all the 1000 questions in the book twice. I still failed and thought the Saunders questions were way too easy compared to nclex. I believe Saunders and good for content review and basics but does not prepare you for diffult questions. Fail-265 questions 3rd Try This time I used Uworld. It is amazing. Its a question bank and the question types are identical to the actual Nclex. I religiously solved all 1900 questions and took notes on both wrong & correct rationales. I could only do 75-100 questions a day as it took 5 hours to really read, understand and take notes on each question. This ended up taking me around 3 weeks to finish the entire question bank and I had 100 pages of typed up font 10 notes in the end. I then memorized my notes, redid all incorrect & marked questions on uworld. This took about 2 weeks. My uworld percentage average started from high 40s/low 50s and increased to high 60s/low 70s in the end. I was in the 86th percentile in the end. I only did questions sets of 75 questions and nothing less because that would probabaly give me inaccurate results. Pass- 79 questions YES!! Conclusion 1st try- did not study, failed with 75 2nd try- did saudners, failed with 265 3rd try- did uworld, passed with 79 For those of you preparing for nclex, i recommend to set 2 months and use saunders to brush up on basic content and then use uworld to get more indepth knowledge and solve questions. I also looked at Kaplan but found their questions are way more difficult compared to Nclex and doesnt really help you prepare well. Thats the end of my story!! I am now a RN!
